Mississippi

What you need to know before you go

Mississippi is a Southern state that has played many vital roles in America’s history. Today, it’s mostly known for its thriving music scene, especially Delta blues. There’s plenty of preserved history throughout Mississippi, one of which is the Vicksburg National Military Park – this famed battlefield was where the Civil War's Battle of Vicksburg took place in 1863. If you prefer the great outdoors, plan a visit to the 1,530-acre Tishomingo State Park. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, it’s a unique landscape of sandstone canyons, sports facilities, heritage cottages, hiking paths, and picnic pavilions.
