The hotel is gorgeous and convenient to the metro. We stayed for 7 days over Christmas. However, there were some unfortunate problems with our room. First and worst, the shower only went to SCALDING hot or cold. We brought this to the attention of maintenance, but it was never fixed. Second, the bedroom floor weren't well vacuumed. I found several clumps of hair on the ground and the hemp mat under the bed shed badly. They're difficult to clean as it is, so don't look too closely. Third, Bibie charged us a "tourist tax" - requesting a tip after dinner. Finally, upon reservation we had asked it was possible to push the two Twin beds we'd reserved together to make a King. Along with the appropriate topper and sheets, since we were husband and wife and no traditional king room was available. The hotel graciously agreed, but our room was not set up this way upon check-in. I asked about this at check-in and the hostess seemed confused and didn't find any mention of this request in our file. It wasn't a huge deal, but for the premium price we paid, we were disappointed at these service flaws.

This hotel was SUPERB. Beautiful, cozy, lots of places for sitting and gathering. The downstairs cafe was perfect. Staff could not have been more kind and helpful (especially Gonsalo). The room was comfortable and clean. Location in the Latin Quarter was perfect.

How this hotel was granted four stars is a mystery for the ages. The only room amenities were coffee pods and teabags. No minibar, snacks, or even a bottle of water. The shower temperature was highly erratic, sometimes dangerously so when it would suddenly spike to scalding. More often it was lukewarm at best. While we know that Paris hotel rooms do tend to be small, there was barely room to walk between the wall and the far side of the bed and a similarly tiny distance between the end of the bed and the lone table—making night bathroom visits from that side rather precarious. The only flat space on which to place anything was that small table and ridiculous “nightstands” comprised of tiny semi-circular shelves less than a foot wide by about four inches at their deepest. In addition, the room was gloomily underlit and often drafty. Finally, rooms are only cleaned weekly; there are additional charges to have done more frequently. Due to the lack of standard housekeeping, we had to request additional toilet paper halfway through our stay—not something you expect to have to do at a “four-star” hotel!
