Norwich

Norwich is Norfolk’s county town a few hours northeast of London by train. Norwich Castle is one of the best-preserved Norman buildings anywhere and it’s now a museum tracing the city’s story. Don’t miss the museum’s Twining Teapot Gallery, exhibiting teapots from 1730 onwards, in every shape imaginable, from cabbages to monkeys.

Bargain hunters will love Norwich’s outdoor market, just off Gentleman’s Walk, offering stalls selling clothing, jewellery, food, and much else besides. In the evening, head for the historic Norwich Lanes, where narrow streets host traditional pubs, fashionable restaurants, and chic cafés.
