Overpriced and less than mediocre- stay away!
The Vondel Garden has three stars. How this is possible is completely beyond me.
My girlfriend and I rented a standard double room, however there wasn’t much “double” to it. The room could barely fit a double bed and it didn’t even have a cabinet to put your clothes in (my guess is that the room was max 6 square meters). The hangers for your jackets was in the bathroom…
The window frames weren’t properly sealed and the room got quite cold during the night because of air leaks (it was a cold and windy spring night). We tried to turn up the heat, but it seemed like the heating in the building was turned off. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious compared to the rest of the room, however the bath tiles in the shower didn’t have the right angle leading the water to the drain resulting in a soaking wet bathroom every time you took a shower. This was also evident from the bathroom door, which had been damaged by all the water.
The overall cleanliness was not impressing, even though the hotel cleans the rooms every day.
The hotel offers breakfast, but it doesn’t have a dining place, which means you’re forced to eat in your bed (to be fair, we didn’t try the breakfast).
This is probably one of the worst hotels, I have ever stayed in, especially if you factor in the prize. We’ve stayed at hostels that were way more comfortable than this and we honestly felt a bit scammed.
Stay away from this hotel and find a hostel instead. You’re almost certain to find something better.
