I don't usually write reviews, good or bad, but I need to vent on this one:
I showed up for my reservation at 12:15am, about an hour later than I had anticipated because of a flight delay. I walked into the hotel, and nobody was there. I waited. I knocked on the office door. Nothing. After 15 minutes, I called the hotel phone...it started to ring at the desk where I was standing, and I let it ring for 10 minutes. Nobody answered, nobody came out.
Wanting to get some sleep, I went next door to a neighboring hotel and got a room. In the morning, I logged on to request a refund from Hotels.com, explaining the situation to them. They contacted the hotel, who rejected my request, saying I had not checked in on time AND claiming that there was a 'night auditor' on staff that was there at the hotel. If that was the case, they were doing a horrible job...I could have literally walked out with their computers and furniture, and nobody would have stopped me. I have NEVER had a major brand hotel not take a late arrival, or refuse a refund for a reasonable request.
So, I'm out my room fee, and had to waste part of my morning spending time on the website logging a complaint. That's life sometimes. But if you don't like the idea of sleeping in a hotel room with nobody in the lobby and nobody to handle an emergency, you might want to choose another hotel. And whatever you do, don't let your flight be delayed!
