When booking, a hotel priced above average one would expect a standard above average. Hotel Ethos does not deliver this.
At the website it appears to be a very professional business, but in reality it’s closer to a B&B with an informal approach to quality and service.
The immediate impression of the room was fine. A closer look revealed a long list of error: Spider webs everywhere, loose installations, air-con very noisy with little effect, ventilation in bathroom kept running and very noisy, lamp in ceiling did not work, one bed was totally warn out, had to clean the drain in the tub to make it work, iron board rusty, broken and with holes.
Breakfast (and everything else incl checkin) takes place in a small café across the road which means you must get out (in the rain). The brochure in the room promised breakfast from 8-14pm (Sun-Sat) but when we arrived all the food were taken out and we had to ask for everything. If you order a cooked breakfast expect to wait for ages.
We borrowed the hotel bikes. The standard was as low as it gets and even though one was brand new, the brakes were malfunctioning. Minor adjustments required the manager to call neighbors in the area for tools. When asked, they did not have any bike light’s.
Conclusion: No, I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
