2/10 Poor

Susan was one of the worst people I’ve ever seen dealing with public. Racist and inconvenient. Called me and my husband multiple times prior our arrival because she seems to tired and wanted to go to the bed earlier. Knocked at our suit because my husband forgot his wallet on the wedding that we attended it and our friends came to give us back and she made a scene because of it. I made a second day reservation and she was replying for me the questions that the another employee was making me. Inconsiderate, inconvenient and definitely was treating us differently because of our skin color. If I could give a minus star, I would, first and last time

We loved our stay! Got 10 percent off at the pub down the street if we told them we were staying here. Best thing, however, is that our room was immaculate! Cathy does a phenomenal job cleaning and is super friendly and welcoming!

Let me start off by saying what I liked about the Clipper Inn, the cleaning staff was amazing, super nice and accommodating. The walk to all the shops, restaurants, tourist attractions, etc in Salem was just about a mile, so easy to walk to which was fantastic! Now, let me get to the negative aspect of the Clipper Inn. The women at the front desk was extremely rude, not just on one occasion, but the whole weekend. Everything was an issue, and she wanted to charge us for every extra thing. I had a third person stay in the room with us which was unplanned, the room was a suite, with two beds and pull out couch. She charged us an extra $80 for the person to stay... I have never had that happen before. My family and I were standing in the parking lot making plans for the day and she comes out and counts the people in our group and asking us questions, it was so uncomfortable. Once we started walking to town, she gets in her truck and starts going in the same direction we are walking. She slows down behind us and is driving behind us for a few before driving away, it was so bizarre. She also called my family member staying the same weekend and canceled their room the night before for Saturday night. THE NIGHT BEFORE, like what kind of system do you have that you don't notice overbooking until one night before? They were going to stay in our room that night since they didnt have a room and she wanted to charge them an extra $50!!! Like are you kidding me? Other staff was great!

Motel was very clean and comfortable. Perfect for what we were looking for - an inexpensive, clean and easy to get to place to spend the night while in Salem for the weekend! Would definitely stay again!

Facility was clean enough but outdated and an uncomfortable bed. Lady at the front desk (I think the owner) is kinda snotty. Was more expensive than what I was listed on Expedia. For the price it should be a lot nicer with more amenities.

Let me start off by saying, I rarely do any sort of reviews regarding my stays besides a very happy review because that is typically where or what I see when I travel. However, this place, the clipper ship inn, needed to have its own review due to the service and the conditions of the hotel room. I booked this location in Salem, because I wanted to fully experience Halloween in the city that represented the witch trials. The clipper ship in was close walking distance but yet far enough away that we were not right on a street that was going to be seeing a lot of people and be very noisy. I saw a lot of reviews that basically gave three stars and said that the cleanliness was fine, so I took a chance and I booked the room for myself and my two friends. check-in was scheduled for 3 PM, we arrived at 9 AM, hoping that we would just be able to keep our luggage there as we had an extra day to walk around until our room was cleaned. We were greeted with the main lobby being locked still at 9 AM, and a very angry blonde haired woman who stated “who are you?” Explained that I had a reservation time date all kinds of things… We were allowed into the main lobby where the smell first assaulted us… Smelled like that of a nursing home without the urine. The room, did not have a shower curtain at first, we were only giving one roll of toilet paper, all of our snacks were munched on in the middle of the night by many mice, yes I said MICE. Stay somewhere else.

I love that it is affordable in Salem but that is the only thing going for it. You feel like you stepped back in time when you walk into the room. The colors are awful the curtains are thick and disgusting. The spiderwebs around the light by the door were a great touch for Halloween but that was about it. I would not stay here again. Too dated for me.

Stayed at the Clipper Ship Inn for 4 nights during the busy October season. This place fit perfectly with our budget and was weary due to the reviews. The property is big with plenty of parking. 1 of the receptionist is a little rough around the edges but was very informative with things to do in Salem. We had rented the king size bedroom suite and was very impressed with the size of the room. The room had a separate sitting are from the bed. The sitting room has a couch, small table with chairs, closet, and small kitchenette with kurig, small refrigerator and microwave. The bedroom has a kig size bed, dresser and t.v. The bathroom is separated by doors and is a bathroom. The property is quite amd peaceful. There is a restaurant about a block away and offer a discount while staying at the Inn and the restaurant staff is very nice. Sadly not open for breakfast. We didn't have a car so we walked everywhere or used the Salem skipper. It was about a 20 minute walk to Essex St. Husband and I were there on vacation and were on a budget. The Clipper Ship Inn offered exactly what we needed.

A Nice Last Minute Stay

For a last minute trip to Salem, my husband and I had a great one night stay. It was about a 20 minute walk to all attractions in town. The room had all of the amenities I needed and the room was clean. I am not sure if the a/c was working but other than that it was fine. Everything is pricey at this time of the year.

Last Resort Lodging!

Very unpleasant interaction with staff the entire stay. They were not accommodating at all, actually rude, regarding holding luggage, extra towels, late check out or an early check in. Charged $150 extra for 4 people occupying a suite that they knew about ahead of time. Would not recommend!

It was a less expensive option to stay in Salem for Halloween. It was a big clean basic room . No frills.

The front desk staff was very rude. I asked for an extra blanket and got chewed out. I was told there was a heater in the room instead. I had to explain why I wanted the extra blanket. Every time I went to front desk they were arguing with guests. The cleaning staff was amazing and did a great job cleaning our room. Also- the WiFi connection was terrible. Didn’t work the entire time. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.

Not sure what this means.

The room was very basic, no alarm clock, tv was in the bedroom, mattress’ were cheap and noisy, not enough soap and towels when we arrived, had to ask. Evening front desk woman was very unfriendly. The rug was disgusting and it smelled bad. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping women were great!
