I booked this on behalf of a friend and they showed me around.
It’s a fab mix of old-fashioned comfort and modern amenities and scrupulously clean. The bedroom (Judge Huddlestone) was enormous with a bathroom to match. Tea & coffee in the room but, if you want to be sociable, head for the living area where comfortable sofas, a (mock) log fire and even a chess board ready for play invites you to sit and relax. Next to it is a plush dining area where you can eat food that you’ve ordered. Saves smells in the rooms.
All info for a non-contact check-in was clear and sent in advance along with a few rules that help keep the place a pleasant environment for everyone.
Parking is only a couple of hundred metres away and, compared to what some hotels charge now, was very cheap.
The only criticism would be that toiletries were single use - multi use bottles of soap etc are considered better for the environment.
If I didn’t live on the doorstep, I would certainly stay there myself.
