The location of this hotel is perfect – just at the end of the promenade but still quiet and private. We had a room on the top floor with a large balcony and a perfect view of the lake.
The hotel itself probably hasn’t’ been refurbished the last 30-40 years, so don’t expect much in terms of design etc. All interior seems old and warned out. Rooms are however spacey and bathrooms ok updated.
Breakfast was nothing special, but sitting on the outside terrace seemed OK. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the hotel, as all the restaurants in Salo were within easy walking distance. However we did notice that the menu for lunch was very dull – only a few uninspiring options (frozen pizza-slice etc).
Staff was very helpful, but only a few spoke a little English though. Pool was rather small but very nice. The hotel offers pool towels, but they were only rarely available (always “ready within an hour”), so probably it will be smarter to bring your own.
Salo is a very nice little charming town, with a nice promenade, fine restaurants and of course the most fantastic position at the lake.
