My husband and I booked one night at this hotel. It was midweek in September. I think we were the only guests. This in itself is concerning and if I had booked as a single woman I probably would have cancelled. There was one person on duty and he was helpful getting the heat on in the room which was chilly. There was a split heating/air conditioner in the unit but it was on the A/C mode. The man at the front desk had to turn on the baseboard heating from some unknown location. All in all I would give this property a B-.

I was initially worried seeing mixed reviews about The Whitlock but we had a wonderful time. Location cannot be beat - walk out the door into town and everything Lenox has to offer. Room was clean, cozy and comfortable. AC was strong even during a heatwave. SmartTV with all of the streaming channels. The lobby and patio space were great, and there is a little convenience area to buy waters or juice. The staff were responsive and helpful when we wanted to switch rooms. Wonderful trip all around, I recommend the Whitlock for your trip to Lenox!

When we stayed there it was off season and there were very few people staying there. Checking in was very different as Expedia told us to do one thing and the hotel had other directions. We finally got in touch with an employee who was very welcoming and informative. The outside doors remain unlocked 24 hours so the only locked door was the room we stayed in- apparently it is a safe place. The room was beautiful, bed very comfortable and bathroom clean and modern.

The Whitlock is a lovely old inn, located right in the heart of Lenox and walkable to everything in town. The staff is also lovely. Our room was spacious and well layed out. [but for an ADA compliant walk in shower, you need more than grab bars - a rubber matt in the shower is a necessity!!] However, for a hotel that calls itself hi-end, it fell far short of that mark. First and foremost, the email communications with both Hotels.com and the The Whitlock were like a Marx Brothers skit: We were first told the check in would be at the Constance down the street, not at the Whitlock. When I asked the off-shore "team" about that, I was told that the Whitlock was under new management and no longer had off-site check-in. The additional info we received with attached links also did not work - the response: it will work the day of check in!!?? [ps - they were not "live" links, just a series of numbers and letters] It's great to try and streamline operations, but those operations MUST work, and the responses from the team must make sense!!!

We had a late arrival, which worked out with self checkout. Left the next morning after 9am, didn't see a single staff member during our whole stay, Was a bit of a challenge getting luggage up to the top floor without an elevator but we probably should have realized that when we booked. Nice property, nice big room with separate area for visiting. TV channel choices, which included streaming services, was excellent. Overall a good experience, just didn't see anyone there.

Nice but a little rundown

Location is great for visiting the Lenox shops and restaurants. The shower and bed were nice and comfortable. It’s an old hotel so I’m sure it’s hard to keep it up but wear and tear was evident in the room and common areas. Weekend continental breakfast was very good.

We made the mistake of staying here when traveling, because there was a snowstorm and the driving became unsafe. It is a little mom and pop sort of place, and there was no front desk staff, no morning coffee, no one to shovel the walk ways...no food. I guess we should have stayed at the Holiday Inn. Whoops. On the other hand, the room was quaint in that old New England style, and clean and the place was quiet!

Excellent location in the heart of Lenox. Easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Quick drive to Tanglewood. Room was comfortable and quiet. Decor slightly tired. Overall a good option for a weekend stay.
