The place is really dated, needs redecorating and feels a bit 1970. Service was good and friendly. Everything worked (hot water etc) and towels clean. But the place needs investment overall and modern fittings

Staff really friendly, property easy reached from the A1 which was ideal for us as we were travelling up from London so it was about half way to our destination, with kids on tow broke up the journey just right.

this hotel is a little surprise. Doesn’t look much from the outside and not helped by being next to a disused building. However, once you enter it is a very different experience. The hotel is lovely, well maintained and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. We had a family room which was very good, though could do with some better quality bed linen. However, it wasn’t bad at all and we had a pleasant nights sleep. Although we didn’t use it, the bar looked amazing and breakfast in the morning was lovely. Not 5* but given how much this hotel is, it far exceeds expectations. If in Newark and you need a hotel, don’t give it a second thought and book.

Read before booking

The staff are not welcoming, and wifi was really poor, not suitable for work visit. I would not recommend it to anyone. The hotel was clean.

8/10 Very good

There was some confusion regarding the “breakfasts included” part of my booking on arrival. Reception paperwork indicated “room only”. I was asked to provide evidence and it was only due to me forwarding a screenshot to my partner showing bed & breakfast included, that fortunately I was believed. We had to change rooms due to a damp, musty odour in the initial room but were offered an alternative, which was much better. Highly recommend the Gluten Free options at breakfast. Andrea & Roy went above and beyond. Thank you.

Friendly staff. Breakfast came 30minutes later than I booked it. Free parking is good Easy to get to. Property need extensive update to fixtures and fittings. Very dated. Alright for work lads staying over but that’s about it

2/10 Poor

It was our wedding night, we told the staff before hand, when it came to checking in the gentleman was lovely but we didn’t expect to be out in a small and dark room with no air con and no exciting arrival (we were stood in wedding dress and suit) no congratulations or anything. We just got shipped off to the room. We wasn’t shown where we was going a fellow customer had to show us as they were next door. We don’t expect a lot of course but a little something when being told on the phone that it was our wedding night would have been nice. We didn’t get spoken to on the way out we just checked out and went home. For the price for 1 night to have a “great experience” was a let down. For what we paid we thought we was going to get more and we was very disappointed. Again the gentleman was lovely who booked us in but the overall experience was disappointing especially for the money.

The mattress was the worst I've ever tried to sleep on, it was lumpy, dipped in the middle, if there were springs they've gone! I was going to sleep on the floor but the carpet didn't look too nice. I was shattered in the morning, I probably got an hours sleep and had a sore back and shoulder. I told reception the mattress needs binning, along with the pillows that are old, cheap and lumpy! Not what you'd expect for £100 a night! Pay the extra and go elsewhere, as now I need to spend £50 on a chiropractor and had an uncomfortable and tiring 4.5 hour drive home. They need air con too, the fan in the room was useless, I shut the curtains as the sun was on that side and the room was like a greenhouse upon check in. Nice staff though and it wasn't noisy.
