Trondheim has plenty to offer those who love to shop. Get to know the biggest malls in the Trøndedal capital, and find out where to get the best bargains.

It is inevitable that you will find many large local chains in several shopping malls, so it's worth getting an idea of what makes each of these shopping experiences unique. It's the small independent shops, not to mention eateries, that really add something to the big shopping malls.

    Byhaven

Heart of the city has all you need

    Byhaven
    • Shopping

Byhaven is one of the most central and urban places to find several shops under one roof in Trondheim. Several of the store names here are known to shopping enthusiasts from all over the country, while others are part of Trondheim's own history, and have chosen to establish themselves in the community that is Byhaven.

14 of the shops here specialise in clothing and fashion in one form or another, but there are still around 30 other shops and restaurants that you can stop in for whatever you need.

    City Lade

Out on Lade, with a short way to Ringve and Koteng

    City Lade
    • Shopping

The Lade peninsula is full of history, and City Lade itself is located right next to Haakon VIIs gate, once the runway at Trondheim's nearest city airport. City Lade is the last rampart you see before you really feel like you're leaving the city, but is, in the immediate vicinity of the centre, enjoying full growth with new apartment buildings, sports grounds and other experience centres.

The shopping centre itself is said to be the largest in Trondheim when it opened in 2004, and has shops in all categories within its walls.

Tiller, home to City Syd, is one of the first things you see when approaching Trondheim from the south. And once you get here, you realise it's going to be had to keep your bank account as well-stocked on departure as on arrival.

City Syd is just one of several places where you can flex your shopping muscles, and the selection of shops here is second to none compared to other nearby centres. But City Syd has Vinmonopolet, and therefore attracts many of the most loyal customers.

    Lade Arena

    Lade Arena

Haakon VII's gate was once the runway to Lade Airport, but now you can land at the Lade Arena shopping centre instead and nab a bargain or two. Lade Arena is not the type of shopping centre for exploring small, higgledy-piggledy shops and boutiques.

No, this is about big purchases and getting the best price for the things you need. Meanwhile, Lade Arena caters to those coming by car, with an abundance of parking spaces, and many shops aimed at drivers.

    Sirkus Shopping

Better shopping than any other circus

    Sirkus Shopping
    • Shopping

When it opened in 2012, Sirkus Shopping was the largest shopping centre in Trøndelag. With close to 100 stores in almost all categories, everyone in the family will find something they want to spend both time and money on here!

The location of the centre couldn't be better, halfway between Strindheim and Lade, and with Innherredsveien right on your doorstep. This makes it easy to get here by both car and public transport. But if you take the bus, keep in mind that it is easy to get carried away by the many bargains.

Great place to shelter from the rain

    StorM Senter

Well located on Tiller among the other stores, you can't help but visit StorM once you're in the area. The shopping centre is set up around one of Trøndelag's largest furniture stores, but has more than just interiors to offer.

Here you'll find all you need for your car, and a large children's equipment store. As you might think, the best way to get here is by car. This means you can also make use of the many free parking spaces outside the centre.

    Solsiden

The shopping centre where the sun (almost) always shines

    Solsiden
    • Shopping

The delightful, bright and airy Solsiden Shopping Centre is as central as you can get in Trondheim, without actually being in Midtbyen. The centre is somewhat smaller than the big giants on the city's outskirts, but what you lose in the breadth of product range you get back many times over in well-being.

The employees are easier to talk to and they know their stuff, which means shopping at Solsiden is never about rushing from shop to shop.

    A classic among like-minded people

With several other shopping centres as your nearest neighbours, it's not always easy to stand out on Tiller, but Tillertorget does it perfectly. This place has huge department stores that benefit from having almost the entire range available in their local warehouses rather than having to order goods for you.

Whether you're looking for sports equipment, electrical goods, trinkets or outdoor equipment, there'll be a shop that sells it on Tillertorget. Two very popular restaurants have also established themselves here, so you won't have to leave hungry from your shopping spree.
