Below standard in many areas Would not stay again.
The current average rating is way too high. This place is unremarkable, pictures on the site are unrepresentative and service is horrible.
1) service: This hotel is in the gold hotel.com rewards program. As gold members we should therefore be offered both a free drink and a complimentary upgrade if available. On this particular day the hotel was mostly empty. Upon check-in the person at the front desk entirely refused to provide either rewards although acknowledging that it was clearly stated on our reservation in the hotels.com app. We were therefore forced to spend almost an hour on the phone with hotels.com and have them call the hotel before we received the upgrade we were entitled to all along. After this, the person at the front desk begrudgingly gave us the new key with no ‘sorry for the inconvenience’.
2) room standards: due to the above we saw both a non-deluxe garden queen room and a deluxe king and walked most of the premises. The rooms are dated and not in a cute way. They are in need of some SERIOUS TLC. Many historic hotels have pulled this look off but this is definitely not one of them.. In the hallways there is pretend-tile wallpaper falling of the walls. Fridges in rooms make horrible screeching sound when cooling (we tried turning off ours but could then hear the sound from the neighbouring rooms). The reception area looks nice, though.
Overall this hotel is not worth the cost. Not even when discounted by 30-40%. Much better options in the area.
