Nice soaps
Comfortable bed and pillows, and nice cotton bedding.
Zero privacy while showering and a death trap after once you’ve flooded the room. The room has been deconstructed so much that there’s not even a shower curtain or screen… or shower. You’ll need the complimentary ear plugs as the bar is as noisy as hell plus the music from the neighbouring establishments until around 2am. The expanse of glass in the units provides little privacy from the other rooms around the open courtyard, and zero sound insulation from the racket taking place in the bar. Parking is almost non-existent on the street outside so pack lightly or you’ll need to drag everything down some steps from the next street, across the gravel in the courtyard, and up the concrete steps to your room. Housekeeping is optional and upon request, so you can take refuge in your concrete box, safe in the knowledge that nobody is going to turf you out and force you to endure the town while they sweep your cold, soulless bedroom. No formal reception area, only a remote team, ‘just a text or call away’, although the info in your room does say that the restaurant staff can help…
Just like the rest of San José del Cabo, Drift is catering for the US market and those who don’t seem to care about an authentic Mexican experience. Everything in this town is overpriced compared to the rest of Mexico. Honestly, I don’t recommend Drift or San José del Cabo if you’re hoping to experience Mexico.
