Hostal La Macarena is right in the center close to everything. 2 minutes to Placa Mayor, 1 minute to “Butin” - said to be the oldest restaurant in the world, 5 minutes to Placa del Sol, 5 minutes to to streets with lots of tapas-restaurants e.t.c.
The hostal itself has very small rooms, but the hospitality ie great. Very serviceminded staff, always smiling and ready to help. For example; We had a shared sheet, and asked for an ekstra, when we came back in the evening. Got one ekstra straight away. We also asked for ekstra shampoo and bathing gel, and got ekstra.
Our room had a bathtub, but it is the smallest bathtub we have ever seen. Didn´t
need it though. Our room only had a small window to a tiny court, but we weren´t there for the view. In your room, you can easely here conversation in the hallway, and there might be some noise from the people living on the next floor, but the night was pretty calm, and we had no problems sleeping. The bed wasn´t to comfortable though, but still, the location, the welcomming staff and the resonable price makes this place a very good suggestion for a stay in Madrid. Can higly recommend.
