Reception during check-in and check-out was super nice—thank you for being so friendly and welcoming! I stayed on the 3rd floor (actually the 4th floor). Although the steep, narrow steps were a mission, they are typical of local architecture and should be seen as a cultural experience rather than a North American "accessibility issue"—if you need an elevator, are obese, or dislike narrow, steep, winding stairs, this place isn't for you. The six-person, three-bunk room felt spacious, and each bed had a locker with a key (10-euro deposit, returned upon return). I had the top bunk facing the window, and the electric socket was a bit far, but it was a minor inconvenience. The bed was clean, and the sheets were fresh. The shower was hot, especially nice after walking in the rain. The washroom door didn't have much space when opened and was close to my knees when sitting on the toilet—a potential issue for anyone 170 cm (5'7") or taller. I shared the room with five other lads who were friendly and professional. Overall, a proper hostel experience. I usually stay at the Heart of Amsterdam for its proximity to RDL and Centraal, but Hotel Jesse is now my new favourite!
