A very basic hotel, which clearly is getting quite old now, which you can feel and see almost everywhere in the hotels exterior and some of the interior. If the price is right (low), and it is a short stay, I can recommend this Hotel.
Positive things:
1) Location in good, but for exploring the Vestland of Norway with its fjords and lovely nature. Lærdal is a “middle sized” village, with good supermarket options (two big ones, EXTRA and KIWI).
There is also Villaks centre, which is a museum for the history of salmon fishing. Quite interesting actually, is was pretty modern and newly refurbished.
There are good views of the Fjord, but NOT from all windows in the hotel. You can sit outside and eat breakfast if weather allows.
2) Friendly and effective staff. Both the reception and restaurant was run by quite young but great staff. Breakfast buffet was quickly filled up, and tables cleared.
3) Room was actually OK, and quite newly refurbished. Bed was quite new, a good TV, but NO MINI BAR and NO Coffee / Tea facilities !
Negative things:
1) Quite expensive for what is was, during summer time.
2) Breakfast buffet was VERY limitied. Basically some bread, a few different types of cheap cured meats as ham, a few sliced cheeses, 1 type of fruit yoghurt and two cereals (no sugary ones), scrambled eggs, sausauges, baked beans. NO SALMON or quality items in the buffet. Ive had better breakfast at bed&breakfast places and 2 star hotels.
