I’ve used The Cocoon a couple of times before, and up until the last time it has been an overall nice experience. Simple, affordable and conveniently located close to the city center. I don’t mind the underground no-window rooms, the mildly grumpy receptionists or the fact, that there’s no breakfast eg. I’ve only been there to sleep, and it has been a nice and clean place to do just that.
However, for my most recent visit to The Cocoon, the establishment came up short on my very modest of expectations in a hotel room no matter the price. Cleanliness!
On arrival, there was some confusion as to what room, that would be ready for us, but the receptionists quickly sorted it out. Entering the room though we found hair in the bathroom, litter and what I still beg was dried up ketchup and not blood on the floor. After removing the fresh towels and bed cover the sheets also bore some evidence of having been missed by housekeeping. When taking the matter to the receptionist I was met with scepticism as he was quite sure that the room was clean, but eventually made a note for housekeeping to sort out it out as we were gone for the day. Returning later we found that nothing had been done and ended up having to spend the night in that mess.
I have always said to people that The Cocoon for sure is no place of luxury, but you’ll only be sleeping there anyway, but this time it was truly borderlining that “I’m not spending a night there again”-feeling.
