Located in downtown Amsterdam which is great when you want to walk around.
When we arrived the girl behind the counter seemed like she wanted to be everywhere but at work – and she did a really good job trying to avoid us, even though we were right in front of the counter. The service never got better, except from one very sweet young man who was doing his very best and even recommended nice restaurants for us to try.
The room was fine by size but definitely not clean. We kept finding huge piles of very long, blond hair on the floor and on the bed cover and darker, short hairs in every corner of the bathroom. We made the mistake of looking under the bed – don’t do that! And the glasses on the tray for coffee etc. was looking so unclean and old that we didn’t risk it.
The TV was part broken, we had 2 huge black spots in the left part of the screen and a line in the bottom. The first night we arrived, there was no hot water and for the rest of the stay it seemed like you could either burn in hell or take a penguin with you in the shower. There was absolutely no middle between those two.
The hotel is a bit old and you can hear absolutely everything through the walls. The staff in the restaurant is nice enough but the breakfast really isn’t something. It’s acceptable, but nothing memorable.
All in all, it was an “okay” hotel with problems that should be easy to resolve – however, for the price of it and the fact that the hotel has 3 starts we were quite disappointed.
