Avoid Sakthi Holidays Inn if you are a foreigner
I had a frustrating experience with Sakthi Holidays Inn and Expedia.at that every non-Indian traveler should be aware of.
I booked and prepaid a Deluxe Room at Sakthi Holidays Inn via Expedia.de. Upon arrival, the hotel denied our stay, claiming they had no record of our reservation, despite me showing them confirmation of booking and invoice. Turns out, Sakthi Holidays Inn had lost its license to accommodate foreign guests due to immigration issues. This was never disclosed on Expedia, we were not informed in advance by hotel, se we were not able to cancel the reservation and get a full refund as per cancelation policy. Their excuse? Simply "careless staff." After 2 hours spend at the reception, we found new accommodation on our own during peak season. Hotel provided free ride to the next hotel and tried to help us find new accommodation.
Despite the hotel admitting fault and canceling the reservation directly via Expedia, we haven’t received a full refund yet – which should be automatic if the hotel cancels the reservation, but in reality, this doesn’t happen.
