Strong smell
This hotel has a very strong smell from reed diffusers that are placed all over the place. It was too much and overwhelming. Even rooms had a strong smell of cleaning supplies. Having to deal with this smell all the time made our stay uncomfortable.

The staff were amazing. The breakfast was great. The hotel was well located to the station for going to Cinque Terre and walking to a very nice shopping area.

Average hotel in an average area. Not far from the train station or the pedestrian streets, but nothing immediately adjacent either.
The key card didnt work when i arrived so i was eventually given a proper key but still needed card to turn on the electricity. I came back one day and housekeeping had left their key in my door. Anyone could have gotten access to my room. Three smoke detectors in the room flashed every 30 seconds or so all the time. I slept with my head under the covers. The staff was pleasant but mostly disinterested.
It is the only hotel I've stayed at in La Spezia, but my guess is that their are worse at this price point. And probably better too.

Close to train station and shopping.
The outside of the property has the theme from John Lennonn's song "Imagine" on it and it has special meaning to me.

not only did breakfast, not come with the room, but they charged us an arm and a leg for the worst cup of coffee. I think I’ve ever had.

Cinque Terra gateway
Hotel was clean, bed comfy and centrally located. The complimentary drinks in the fridge were a nice touch and the front desk was very helpful. Rooms on the small size bit quiet. AC worked well and appreciated. Didn’t try the breakfast, found a couple of nice coffee shops close by.
It would have been nice to have a coffee machine and tea kettle in the room.
Close to a grocery store for supplies.

The Poet is a great place to stay. The front desk staff was very helpful and sweet. There is really interesting art through out the main areas. Our King size bed was comfortable and the biggest bed I have ever seen! I think it was 7 1/2 feet wide!

My stay at the Poet hotel was wonderful! The hotel is perfectly located just a short walk from the train station, making it incredibly convenient for day trips to Cinque Terre. The hotel itself is as beautiful as the photos online. It was stylish, clean, and full of charm! The staff was also warm and welcoming. If you're looking for a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing place to stay, with easy access to Cinque Terre, this hotel is a fantastic choice!

The hotel was ok, but it did not have a restaurant on site, which I find comfortable if you come back tired and do not wish to go out to dinner or even to do room service.
Housekeeping service did not replenish soap or other toiletries.
The area is ok too, not too many fine dinning options and there is nothing at all to visit in La Spezia. If you do not wish to stay in one of the Cinque terre cities, La Spezia is a good option since it is quite big.
