Our hotel stay was a nightmare. Advertised as charming, the room was a run-down horror show. Damaged ceiling, broken lights, torn picture frame and street-level "soundproof" windows failed at muffling pedestrian chatter and rumbling trucks. The phantom minibar was non-existent.
The bathroom was as ghastly. Damaged mirrors, teetering shower-head, neglected soap holder, and a disturbingly loud fan. A torn towel, nonchalantly replaced without apology, was the icing on the cake.
Breakfast was uninspiring, served in a dingy cafeteria-like space. Our complaints were met with a shrug and an absurd offer to replace the missing minibar with reception fridge space. This hotel sucked the charm out of Venice, leaving us feeling undervalued and unheard.
