The hotel has a great central location in Visby in historical buildings and we had a great view over the sea - BUT the hotel is clearly understaffed and the guests are suffering from this. When we checked in, they asked us if we needed cleaning during our 4 night stay - the obvious answer would be each day as default at a four star hotel. Anyway we settled with one cleaning in the middle of our stay. We soon discovered that the TV was not working, which we reported they day after, but they couldn't do anything as it was a weekend -but no compensations were suggested nor could we get another room of similar standard. On the cleaning day we put on the cleaning sign on the door and were out all day. When we came back nothing was cleaned. This was very disappointing as we beforehand had mentioned that cleaning was specifically needed due to allergy. We then complained massively and the staff was nice enough and also accommodated compensation at then end - again not as default - but after strong request. We then demanded a cleaning the next day -which happened, but only superficial, still very dusty. During our stay we heard several other people complaining about the lacking cleaning as well. Moreover, at breakfast information was lacking, sometimes we could sit outside, but that placed closed 1 hour before the other breakfast places. Several items were often lacking the and staff lacked to clean. The TV was never fixed... The owner needs to bring this hotel up to 4 stars.
