The Grunwald Residence is the neighbour of the much more exclusive Bauer Hotel, where the reception and other facilities is located. The building is ancient and the decor is classic and exclusive (if somewhat worn down). Since we are in Venice, most rooms have no view as the windows are towards narrow alleys. This is normal. However, the lighting is very sparse so the room was quite dark. Also, finding electric outlets for charging devices and computer was very impractical. Breakfast can be purchased at the Bauer Hotel, but the price is very high (€40 per day). Still, the stay was pleasant and the staff was very helpfull. If you are looking for a hotel in close distance to St. Mark's Square and immediate access to high street shops, this is a good choice. Also, the hotel is only 250 meters from the nearest water bus stop with no stairs to cross in between.
