I had a bad experience during my stay at this hotel. Here are some issues I encountered:
1. **Misleading Information About the Location:**
- The hotel displays an image of the UT Tower and suggests it’s an easy walk to the UT campus. In reality, the hotel is about a 20-minute walk away, requiring guests to cross a highway and a bridge.
- Despite being advertised as a four-star hotel with a beautiful pool and patio, the pool is very small, there is no patio, just a few outdoor chairs, and only one restaurant with a limited menu.
2. **Unprofessional Service:**
- I didn’t receive the exclusive DoubleTree welcome cookie at check-in.
- There was a lack of basic hospitality. When I asked the front desk about the patio and other restaurant options, the manager responded that it was our hotel and suggested I ask my agent. (For the record, I always book through Expedia as I am a Platinum member.)
- There was no follow-up or feedback when I brought these issues to the hotel first.
3. **Overcharging:**
- In addition to the one-night stay charge of about $269 (including tax), there was a $40 fee for on-site public parking, and a bottle of water cost $3.
Anyway, this was my stay experience, maybe just case by case.
