Nice hotel, but not up to Steigenberger standards.
We booked 10 weeks in advance for New Year’s Eve, upon arrival, and signing of check in documents they let us know they had downgraded our room.
They said a minor partial refund was applied as standard for in inconvience. We were not told in advance, and the hotel didn’t seem interested in up for their mistake, compared to they market them self as an upper scale hotel, no free drink or “sorry, breakfast is on us.
Upon check out as we voiced our disappointment, they were very understanding and didn’t understand why we were not offered more, and they comped 2 drinks, which made us think they check in receptionist just had a bad day.
However 2 weeks later we had not received out refund from them, and we had to get help from Hotels.com to get it, since they had not done so themself.
All in all, compared to the many great hotels in Hamburg, we won’t be staying there again.
