This is the third or fourth time I have stayed at this hotel, and it gets better and better, despite the busloads of pensioners that occasionally stay there - and I mean busloads, last week there were 3 giant buses at once one day. The rooms are big enough and there is wireless upstairs and downstairs - but you have to log on each time. There is not much nearby the hotel, it is near the hospital but there is little traffic noise and a couple of OK brasilian type restaurants. The service in the restaurant in the hotel is friendly and helpful - we started our evening meal at 21.45 and it was no problem for them. I ordered a simple green salad with tomatoes even though it was not on the menu. The spaghetti and the carbonara both fresh made and good. Breakfast buffet comprehensive with bacon, eggs, rolls, fresh cheese, local air dried ham, tomatoes, cucumber and all the other usual stuff,. Rooms are large but could be more soundproofed. I could hear snores next door with my corner room and the heating was a problem at 24,7 degrees and not being able to turn donw (it was faulty). BIg balconies with french windows, TV includes CNN, and BBC radio. Small supermarket at the bottom of the road and local vegetable shops nearby. 200m from a trolleybus stop to town. 500m from nearest ATM. Good place to stay if arriving very late at night in airport as it is only about 10-15 minutes by Taxi. NO danger of getting stuck in Porto traffic.
