The room was made up for us, when we arrived, yet the bins had not been emptied, there was a used soap in the bathroom and one of the towels was clearly used before we came. The furniture was worn and dated, and so was the bathroom suite. The toilet was extremely loud for a long time when flushed, for example. The water cooling machine did not work on our floor and the common toilets downstairs were dirty and had no toilet paper. Our room was not made up by the housekeeping on the second day, and when I asked the reception staff about this, because we needed more toilet paper, I was told that there was no housekeeping because of covid restrictions - and that if we wanted housekeeping, we should tell them 24 hours in advance. They did send someone up with more toilet paper after around 30 minutes. Yet, we had not been informed of having to request cleaning during the booking process, or when we checked in.
The remote could turn on the television, but could not turn any of the channels on, and the advertised streaming from a device did not work. The hotel internet was very poor. It worked better when sitting in a restaurant across the street than from inside the room. There was a lot of noise from people in the corridors all through the night and in the morning, as the door was not very sound-proof. All in all a very, very expensive price (585 pounds for two nights with no breakfast) and a very, very poor quality for a hotel that claims to be four star. The only redeeming feat
