We chose this hotel based on it´s central location and old style charm as it is displayed and presented on the webpage.
Upon arrival we found the reception staff to be very disengaged and hardly shared any warm words of welcome, nor where they supportive in aiding us to find Parking as "all free spots were taken".
When we signed out after 2 nights, the reception again hardly bothered looking at us nor say thank you and hope you had a nice stay, I had to ask if all was okay and we could leave...she looked baffled, and confirmed "yep alll good"
The staff in the restaurant were "scruffy" and one literally had black dirt under his fingernails, and generally all staff seemed like they were pulled in from the street the day before.
The hotel has a lot of old charm and could with some attention to the customer experience be an actual old school English charming experience. Now it is just a slightly worn down, slightly scruffy hotel wit disengaged staff...seems like they have seen better days and that they know...and do not care.
Hotel room it self was clean, tidy and comfortable
