The staff here were like family. They took especially good care of my girlfriend when she was sick after a rough train ride. They made some fresh ginger tea that helped her feel better. The house was comfortable, and very nicely situated for sightseeing in Hanoi. They gave us a nicely prepared area map with suggestions on places to eat and things to see. It was just like home.
The homestay is at GPS Location 21.023723 N, 105.844575 E (21°01'25.4"N 105°50'40.5"E) or 84, Phố Quán Sứ, Quận Hoàn Kiếm, Cửa Nam, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam. It is set back from the road at the rear of the lot, and it is very quiet.
The homestay is easily reached on foot from the last stop for Express Bus 86, which travels between Hà Nội Nội Bài (Airport) and Ga Hà Nội (Railway Station) for 35,000 VND. The bus stop at the train station is at GPS Location 21.023445 N, 105.841431 E (21°01'24.4"N 105°50'29.2"E). It is a seven minute walk to the homestay.
Across the street is the bus stop (Chùa Quán Sứ) for Bus Tuyến 32 - Nhổn (every 10 min), Bus Tuyến 01 - Bến xe Gia Lâm (every 15 min), and Bus Tuyến 40 - Văn Lâm (Hưng Yên). Bus prices are 7,000 VND.
Next door there is a street restaurant Thực đơn at 86 Phố Quán Sứ that serves good food and is very busy. They put beer and peanuts on the table. If you do not use these, make sure you do not get charged for them, and meals should be 80,000 VND. They tend to overcharge if you do not ask a local to help with pricing.
