I had a really lovely stay at the Cross Foxes. The room was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. I got some useful advice for one of my walks and enjoyed spectacular views as a result. The food in the restaurant was fantastic.

Good location in beautiful scenery not far from some walks. On a main road but it was completely silent at night. Suite was lovely and bigger than expected, with beautiful views, and a very modern bathroom with a fab shower. The bed did have a weird slope to it though which put our feet higher than our heads! Food in the pub at dinner time was expensive and average, although breakfast was plentiful and good quality. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Hotel staff were lovely very welcoming and very helpful...a lady made sure she brought us fresh milk for the room and was really nice...thank you to her. Room was large with huge bathroom and big bath and excellent shower and spotlessly clean.. Beds were comfy as were pillows. 2 beds in the one room..a bed and a bed settee perfect for a family of 4...strangely only 2 cups for drinks. Hotel 10 mins from Corris craft centre which we were visiting. Had a lovely evening meal at the hotel..bit limited menu for kids but ok. Breakfast was included and this was the only area that let the hotel down...started at 8.30 and we were there at 8.35 ..only 2 people already there..to be told that they had only 1 sausage left....kind of a basic to have enough sausages for a full English brekkie..I get it maybe if we were last to go down and it had been busy but obvs they just hadnt got any in ready for brekkie...our grandson had it and obvs the staff were then having to tell every other guest as they ordered...heard a few people commenting how disappointing it was....very odd and have never come across this before. Overall apart from the breakfast experience the hotel was lovely.

Charming, lovely stay.

Lovely, breakfast was delicious every day. Service with a smile most days. Very knowledgable and recommended trips and walks that we didn’t know about. Room was super comfortable, rustic and the whole place is so charming.

If this was Four in a Bed, I would NOT be paying the full amount! The communal decor of the property was nice and the food was delicious, but the weighing staff could have been a bit quicker. The room again, was well decorated, but really not functional. There wasn't much room to move either side of the bed. The shower cubical was in the corner and tiny. Sliding the door open was a struggle to open, then when inside there was no room to move and the options were water falling from a rainfall head with no room to move out of it's way, or horizontal towards the other side of the shower. Now I'm of average height and it flew over the top of my head. There was no mechanism to move it up or down vertically or towards you at all, the position was fixed. The toilet was so close to the sink I hit my head on it while trying to sit down. The hairdryer was rubbish and blew in after 3 seconds smelling of smoke, going downstairs in my PJs with wet hair wasn't fun. I was told they would bring another up but that never happened. And to finish the sandwich, the parking was ample.

Bed was horrible dipped in the middle and uncomfortable. An old dirty sofa stuck in the corner unable to use apart from loading bags. Room was noisy on busy road

Expected more for the price

On a fairly quiet road junction, we did experience some road noise early in the morning. The carpark is rough. Staff made an effort to welcome us, offering fresh milk for the room and help with luggage. Rooms were clean but need some updating especially the TV which you couldn't keep plugged in if you wanted to boil a kettle. You have to move the bedside tables to access the sockets by the bed. The bathroom was well appointed with a modern finish. The shower took some working out and you will get wet switching it on! Breakfast was good, nice to have fresh fruit and cooked to order hot dishes. All that said we think it is overpriced.

A great location and lovely rooms. Clearly recently refurbished. I used this as a base for heading into the Mach Comedy Festival over the weekend and the drive in was stunning each day. Lovely staff made the whole experience. I'll absolutely be back when in the area again.

Disappointing , a huge decline in standards

Best part of the stay was breakfast. Nice room Lovely setting. Apart from that disappointing. The room had obviously not been used for a while, the heating was off and the room was like a walk in freezer, the milk cartons were all dried up. For a £££ room its not what one would expect. The shower was nice, bed etc was great. Evening meal was a real let down, a very limited menu, mediocre food @ ridiculous prices, dearer than the Ivy! A real shame as its a lovely place but we will stay elsewhere next time.

No wonder the foxes are cross

With exception to the waitress on the last morning who was hopeless, the staff were very friendly and efficient.!First two mornings our waitresses was excellent. Good breakfast portions, well presented and tasty. Only had one evening meal, ok but having to listen to the kitchen staff watching football in the background was poor to say the least. Room was ok but dirty. Carpet not vacuumed and dirty cup marks all over, we had to clean ourselves. The building it’s self needs a dam good clean and some TLC.. In general I would say a long way short of any awards it may have received in the distant past. We ate out 2 of 3 nights to avoid the place.
