I rented this room for my mom and aunt, as they wanted to visit Old Forge. When I went to rent, it showed two rooms available. One advertised a balcony and the other did not but both were the same price. I selected the one without a balcony, as my aunt has a medically recognized disability that would make stairs difficult. Unfortunately, it turned out both advertised rooms were actually upstairs balcony rooms.
Now in any other hotel I've stayed in, you pay extra for a balcony, but not here. My mother brought up that they would need a first floor room because of her sister's disability, and were informed there is an upcharge. My mother also relayed the receptionist was less than polite about it.
To me, this would mean this hotel's pricing scheme is somehow intentionally designed to ensure those who cannot handle stairs for medical reasons always have to pay more. Stay on the second floor, get a sweet balcony, pay less. Stay on the first floor, pay more.
Unfortunately I will not be recommending this one.
