We enjoyed our stay at los Casas de los Frailes. It feels traditional. Not luxurious, kind of basic in some respects, but very clean, & comfortable. Staff is very kind and attentive. Alejandro (concierge) was great and always helpful and thoughtful. Covered with paintings of angels. Fantastic central location. Some street noise at times, but (a) our room windows kept noise out pretty well when closed, and (b) noise usually died down in evening & didn't start too early in AM. Mattresses good and firm. Wifi sometimes was iffy but usually good enough (maybe not if you need to do important work). Room A/C worked well.
There's a beautiful rooftop with a great view where we liked to hang out -- tons of chairs that are not comfortable to sit on, but the staff got us a few pillows that stayed up there that improved it (there was never anyone but us there).
I would have liked some basic breakfast option, but that said, some of the best bakeries in town are steps away (I highly recommend Tierra del Sol across the street for all meals). Not much in the way of common spaces to hang out aside from roof.
Again we were really grateful for Alejandro for his kindness and attentiveness, and we enjoyed our stay here. (12 days, though we left for an outing to the mountains for a couple days in the middle of it.)
