Stay at Yoho Beach Resort, Taiwan
Beach-resort in tiny village in southern Taiwan. Very suitable for families with kids younger than about 10 years, due to several swimming pools for that age and activities such as "make your own chocolate". Such activities, however, appeared to be mostly directed towards a mandarin-speaking audience. Less suitable for families with older kids, as they have only access to fewer and more run-down pools. Several signs and part of the information material in the welcome package was available in Taiwanese. Staff were generally friendly and a few spoke English. Lunch was included and was reasonable. The lower of the two breakfast restaurants was best, but only available after 8.30 hrs. The beach close to the resort is beautiful with lava-stones and a reef, but has little sand and is NOT suitable for swimming in particular not for kids - and only suitable for snorkling if one is fully protected by a wetsuit, as the entrance to the sea is challenging. The village in which the resort is located has no restaurants or shops relevant for a western visitor - for restaurants, one need to take the shuttle bus to Kenting or visit other villages. Parts of the resort could need painting and maintenance - in particular the tearing bottons of the swimming pools - whereas other parts of the resort were nicer. The nearby chocolate farm is indeed worth a visit.
