stayed at hotel based on pictures shown on website which had no resemblance to the pictures. Not sure why this is a 3 star hotel as i would say it’s very dated and worse for wear. room wasn’t clean, dirty carpets,windows, cupboard door which wouldn’t shut stains on light shade. room was dark and could light up more using my phone. toilet smelt like someone had just been for a dump when arrived. most fixtures and fittings very badly worn and bodged. shower cubical had looked repaired many times with silicone everywhere. no bed cover on bottom of a joint divan bed. huge gaps under entrance door and bathroom door too ( you could put your foot through into next room it was that bad (not private in a hall) lino in bathroom not even attempted to be cut in just riding up the wall. lack of tea/coffee/milk/sugar had to ask front desk for some in morning. 2 paper cups for drinks so have to be washed out and re used.no wifi code displayed in room. stairwell doors broken and very narrow, lift didn’t work and on 3rd floor with lots of steps. had sea views with dirty windows! i don’t normally write reviews but i paid £130 for 1 night and although i didn’t expect the world this was super disappointing and was a £40-£50 room maximum and i wouldn’t even pay that if i knew the condition of room was at the level it was. it was more like a very dated 1960 look. when asked at reception how was my stay i stated disappointing and will not return again. i will say reception and breakfast was good.

The positives for our stay were the sea views which were stunning, and the position. The negatives were sadly due to the staff. The website showed 2 restaurants, one including seafood and locally sourced fresh food. Despite ringing in advance to book a table, we were not told that this particular restaurant was closed, resulting in a disappointing meal, and a visit to a superb fish restaurant in Newquay on our second night. Worse than that was the service, which at breakfast was appalling. When you only have a day to visit the area, wasting an hour of that day having breakfast is not good. We waited 25 minutes to have our order taken, service was then slow, no one came to check whether we needed anything else, so we worked out that it was quicker to go back to our room to make a second cup of tea. Taking drinks order when customer is first seated would help The breakfast, when it arrived, was well prepared, as was our meal in the bistro. The new Covid regulation that bars and restaurants had to close by 10pm had just come in, so we were expecting the bar to stop serving drinks around 9.30. Unfortunately, the staff seemed unaware of the clause that hotel residents would be allowed to stay in the lounge to finish their drinks, while non residents would be asked to vacate by 10pm. We were all unceremoniously bundled up to our rooms at 9.55pm, further fuelling our view that our presence seemed to be considered a nuisance by the staff. Not a hotel to return to sadly

Really disappointing stay unfortunately. All the show of Covid security but a distinct lack of cleanliness elsewhere - for instance, we saw the same dead flies on the communal staircases throughout the course of our two night stay. In the room, bathroom door didnt shut and bedroom window didnt open. It was also really noisy and the room wasnt as described - very dated. This all followed a long wait to get into our room at check in. We completely understand that extra work is needed to ensure things are extra clean with Covid but we were left waiting for more than an hour after our check in time to get into our room. No apology and no warning from the woman who checked us in as to the expected wait time. A simple heads up would have given us opportunity to explore the local area instead of twiddling our thumbs.

Hotel staff are friendly. Room was nice however not as clean as it should be, sink wasn’t clean and nail clippings were found in the bed

The Pentire is in a great location especially for Fistral Beach and was lovely and clean and we felt secure regarding covid precautions. Lovely receptionist Elleanor(?) who was extremely helpful although following receptionist we found very unhelpful. Only real disappointment was we were told we could order room service because of covid, obviously their restaurant was on limited bookings. Room service charge had been waived because of this which we felt was great but when we came to book we were told the first day that it was no go and second night it was unlikely we would be able to get food. We also were told we could book a continental breakfast to our room for what we felt was a very reasonable cost but when we tried to book we were told we couldn't. Fully understand that current restraints are making life for businesses very unpredictable and tough but I would maybe suggest adding to bookings that food is not guaranteed to avoid disappointment. We didn't use the swimming pool as noticed on the booking that it was family bubbles only on an understandable booking system but we felt after the food issue we may face another terse reaction if we tried to book in. The hotel is comfortable with good facilities, is clean and safe, fab location, absolute shout out for the lovely receptionists who maybe could instruct one fellow receptionist in making customers feel comfortable. Seems a good dog friendly hotel. Many thanks, stormy but good few days away.

The hotel is in a great location for walking access to crantock and fistral beach. The staff really make this hotel special, they are all so lovely. We stayed in room 112 which was a sea view double room. The bed was really comfortable. The rooms are dated, but well kept. Downstairs is much more modern decor. I had breakfast which was lovely and lots of choice. Will come here again. Thank you for a lovely break!

Hotel staff were ok considering the current climate - hotel itself ok - rooms a bit dated but for the price can't really grumble - considering what the staff have to go through & also ask the guests to completely change the holiday experience they all did a commendable job / would stay here again - thanks for a pleasant stay

Really good stay in the Pentire, the staff have done really well to make you feel at ease with all the extra things in place re: covid19. Bed was super comfy as well. Would definately stay here again.
