Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro - Hostel

The bilingual staff was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was surprisingly good for coffees/teas. Loved that they supplied milk instead of creamers. The soup was good too. Didn’t care for white bread but for the price it was fine. Left my bag for the day which was a nice option provided. The sheets were crispy cleaned and the bathroom across from the room and very convenient. The location is ideal as the station is close and easy to find. The shops nearby make shopping a breeze and there are plenty of inexpensive restaurants to choose from. Most of all you meet very interesting people who stay there. The kitchen provides enough to making a meal quite easy. They provide spices, oils, dishes, pots, and pans. These little things make cooking much better. There’s not much space between beds but again for the price I can’t complain.

Repeated stay at this hotel as very convenient. Room clean and comfortable. Good location, not far from train station. Plenty of food outlets and convenience stores near hotel.

We stayed in the bunk bed room with private bath/shower, stayed 5 nights. The room was incredibly small, especially for a couple, but we were hardly in it. Service was 24/hr and excellent, breakfast was across the street in the Sakura Cafe. It's coffee or tea, toast, jam, butter, and two light soups. The soups varied, but vegetable soup was a staple (curry was my favorite). My husband and I found it perfect to get our day started. We put the DND on our door (we don't like staff to clean our room/change towels often) and they would leave towels on our door in a bag.. which i thought was a bit unnecessary. Still, it was incredibly cheap for something with daily service and breakfast. IT's super convenient to the Ikebukuro JR station, and with our unlimited JR pass we were able to go basically anywhere. 7-11 right around the corner, vending machines everywhere.. if you're there just to crash and leave it's perfect. Also, the staff is a Kuroneko/Yamato Transport location, so you can take advantage of the Hands Free Japan service to punt your luggage between cities/the airport. It was $50 to send 3 suitcases to Kyoto and not have to drag them on the shinkansen - super worth it.

It was a small yet comfy room, I stayed here mid November. So there AC (aircon) does not come out cold air it’s actually hot air heater, I’m from Guam so we really like cold. But the staff said all rooms at the moment is only blowing hot air, this was at 1am when I came back from shoping so I was really tired but the staff was very helpful and nice he came back after 30 minutes, he was able to change it to cold instead of hot air. So it was nice that he still tried to help me, the stay was great its clean but since it’s kinda small it’s hard to open my luggage and my husbands luggage also. And since my room was on the other side of the building we always had cross but it’s not far it was just annoying cause there’s a restaurant in the building. So when I wanted to wash my clothes I’d have to go across and I’m wearing house clothes but going into a restaurant, so it was just annoying. But other than that it was a great place to stay it was very close to everything.
