The hotel is still nice looking but not really the 5 star standard you’d expect (and which you pay through the nose for). There were obvious areas of wear & tear and unfixed damage around the hotel and particularly in our room. Some of the staff were very friendly but others (particularly in the pool bar) were not terribly friendly or welcoming. Room service was expensive, uninspired and unavailable during certain times (we were told there was no way to get breakfast in the restaurant or our room before 8am on the day of our departure because it was Sunday). The housekeeping service was sloppy, with replacement towels and hand soap forgotten and dirty cups and glasses merely rinsed in the sink. I completely sympathise with the issues caused by the pandemic but standards have definitely slipped and they need to buck their ideas up if they’re going to continue to charge those prices.
