U Samui has tremendous potential. What's missing most about this Hotel isn't that it doesn't have a Spa or the absence of a swim-up bar, but it's missing adequate management. In the entirety of our 11 night stay; and despite asking to speak with the manager on 2 separate occasions, I didn't see the manager even once. The F&B manager appeared only briefly on a Friday night, and only to sit and drink at the bar (busying half of the on-duty staff with tending to her personal needs).
Non-guests are encouraged to use the hotel facilities, but with just 26 lounge chairs for up to 102 guests, it explains why pool chairs and beach towels were perpetually in short supply.
A few points to note: We took it upon ourselves to spray insect killer in our Pool Villa as we were being heavily infiltrated. Additionally, if travelling during the first half of 2023, be aware that there is a substantial construction project immediately next door which was undergoing constant noisy demolition; including incessant jack-hammering, throughout our stay. Proximity to the airport mat also pose an issue for some, with over 30 incoming flights and over 30 outgoing flights daily, many flying almost directly overhead.
Those issues could be overlooked, but the lack of management could not. Thanks to the hard work of a small handful of staff, the place runs in spite of the poor management, but a well run operation runs from the top down. Hopefully U Resorts figures it out sooner than later.
