Hotel Mercure Wien Westbahnhof

room was small but comfortable. It was all I needed for one night and a good price close to U6 station

Arrive at the Westbahn train station, (Everything comes in, in one direction) Get off the train and walk to the end of the platform. Turn left and walk to the outside of the building. There you will see a road crossing, cross the road and the opposite corner is the hotel. To return to the underground station, its out the hotel straight across the road then a slight right through the entrance door - dead easy! Its a quiet hotel with a few eating and drinking places within 'crawling' distance :-) The breakfast was a usual buffet with a super choice. Bar snacks were nice, BUT just be careful of the beer. The choice is 5.4% draft and 5.5% bottles - It was nice though :-) Beds a bit firm but very comfortable. I'm planning on returning once again later in the year - fly to Munich then the Meridian train to Salzburg and then the Westbahn train to Vienna (€25 for one and an extra 7 per person) then the Westbahn train is a max of €33.50 each but as low as €20.(About 5.5 hours travel time in total) They now do a combi ticket on the Westbahn and Meridian trains all the way from Vienna to Munich for €99 for 3 people (buy the ticket on the train) - NOW ,that is a VERY cheap option indeed! (€57 for one) On top of that they do discounts for 'Seniors' over 60's of a Euro or two!

Great Location. Rooms, amenities and breakfast of the quality to be expected from a Mercure hotel. Will definitely book again for next business trip

Clean, comfortable room and welcoming reception staff. Very close to West Bahnhof station, and plenty of restaurants around.
