Cheap convenient way to visit Uluru

I only stayed one night. I arrived in the afternoon. The desk clerk was friendly and made dinner reservations for me at one of the other hotels in the complex (Sails in the desert). She also gave me advice on where to watch the sunset from the resort. The room was clean and the heater worked. My roomates didn't arrive until after 10pm, which is just […] part of the deal. The place was certainly not deluxe, as I chose a dorm room, but pretty much what I expected. Facilities were clean and I was surprised by the awesome food lounge with self-serve BBQ goodness. Also very decent buffet breakfast. Where else can you stay for cheap with Uluru staring down on you? (A few short steps to grand views.)

At the end of 4 months travelling in Australia, I wanted to visit Uluru, but really could not bring myself to spend $300 per night to stay at one of the Ayers Rock resorts (especially as between sunset and sunrise trips, I would not be spending very much time at the hotel). The solution I found was the Outback Pioneer Lodge. Although it is a lodge with […] hostel-type accommodation, it did not feel like a hostel - it was extremely clean, the staff could not have been more helpful or obliging, and the location is perfect - just minutes from shops and restaurants by bus... and there is a regular bus service running from the hotel to both the resort and the airport. We found it to be extremely expensive for what we got! No TV, uncomfortable bunkbeds, and ants and spiders in the room.Amenities were very limitied. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else! However, the staff, in general were all affable and very polite.

Considering the hotel rooms at the Ayers Rock Resorts are very exspensive, it makes much more sense to save your money and stay in one of the dorms for a fraction of the cost. You can still use all the hotels facilities etc. There is free transport to and from the airport, also a free shuttle bus operates every 15mins that takes you around the resorts. […] This hotel is the livliest in the resort, with a live band each evening until 23.30. It's a fun, lively place to stay, with a great viewing area of Ayers Rock, or Uluru as its correctly called. Would certainly stay there again. The thing to rememder is you are outback in the middle of nowhere. So that taken into consideration with the price you pay, it just can't be beat. Læs mere

There is an observation platform in the back of the complex, can se different angles of both ULURU and the OLGAS free transport from , to the airport is a plus Food is expensive, kitchen is nice

Das Hotel war das teuerste Hotel während unserer ganzen Australienreise jedoch am Ayers Rock einer der "günstigeren" Hotels. Preis und Leistung stehen jedoch nicht miteinander im Verhältnis: einfachste Zimmer, Stockbetten, keine Zimmerreinigung wähend des Aufenthaltes. Gefallen hat uns alleine die Möglichkeit zum Barbecue.
