We can recommend the Gallery/Cafe next door. They have excellent food - and free internet access. Otherwise try following the street (Sanjo) that the Hotel is on to the east, and you will get to an interesting area and some nice shops, museums, and restaurants.

The location of this hotel is very good and buses are easily accessible to the tourist sights. The rooms are small but adequate, a little dull in decor. The smell of cigarettes lingers in the lobby which is unfortunate. Internet connection is by cable only unless you sit in the lobby. There are convenience stores near by. Lovely little Hotel with an ideal location, we stayed in a triple room and there was sufficient space. Bathroom was small and of the modular type air conditioning worked and made the stay comfortable. I would recommend this hotel. Buffet breakfast was great and the price was reasonable. Very friendly staff and ask for the free wifi kit at the reception.

The hotel is well located except that the closest train station exit (exit 6) does not have an elevator. Hence, making travelling with big luggages quite a hassle. The exit with the elevator is about 5min walk away. Not very far either.

This hotel was right in downtown Kyoto only a short walk from anything we needed. The nearest subway was around the corner as was Starbucks! The hotel staff were very friendly and the dinner in the restaurant was superb! The room wasn't huge but it was very clean and comfortable. -great location -clean -nice interior/bathroom -friendly staff I would say that is all you need when you stay in Kyoto and enjoy sightseeing every day.

The hotel is right on the corner Sanjo and Karasuma, a very city central location. Walking along Sanjo to the east you will find lots of boutique and food (highly recommend the amazing sukiyaki at the famous Mishima Tei). Within 25 mins walk (or short bus ride), you can be at Kawaramachi shopping district or take stroll through the traditional Nishiki […] Market. One block away from the subway and 1 hr bus ride away from the major sites. The garden view public bath on the second floor is pretty fun too. Læs mere

Convenient location closed to subway. Clean and comfortable hotel

The size fo the triple room was bigger than we expected. All three beds are of the same size- twin size. And there is a set of sofa of 3 and 1. Very nice. The hotel is in a very nice area and close to the subway station. Concenient to get around.

NIce hotel with a salaryman feel to it. Good central location in Kyoto and near restaurants and cafes. Very close to the subway station which is only a couple of stops from Central Kyoto where you can get the bullet train. Room was quite spacious and the bathroom was comfortable and not too pokey. Expensive for the quality of the room. Did not get near to comparing with other hotels stayed in in Japan. Extra pillows not provided. After much discussion an extra pillow was brought to the room. Very clean, compact rooms. Access to transport good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds hard, but standard for Japan. Sink & vanity a bit low compared to normal, OK for us (5'6" and 5"4") but could be a problem for someone taller.

Stayed in semi double room, it was slightly bigger than what I was expecting. The location is great, walking distance to lots of sights. Staff were extremely helpful and offered to call around to see if there was space on a few tours for the next day. It would have been great to have free wifi I'm room or lobby instead of wired access in room, however […] it is possible to get free wifi at a cafe a few doors down. Great location at the cross-roads of the two subway lines and helpful English speaking hotel staff. The hotel includes separate male/female Japanese baths free for guests which I didn't try but they looked quite nice when I stuck my head in for a look. They look out through a window into the ground floor garden which is quite pretty.

The hotel is in a convenient location, with close access to the subway. There are many restaurants and cafes around (both Western and Japanese style) and transportation is also convenient. The triple room was a good size for our family of four. Hotel restaurant breakfast buffet was varied with both Western and Japanese options available for a reasonable […] price. Have stayed there for 5 days in semi-double room. Small compact room but has all should-bring stuff, even toothpaste, shaver etc. (at typical shared-guest-house price) Very clean. Free high-speed internet. Staff can converse well in English. Close to many sightseeing areas. Highly recommended.

Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo is easily accessible from Kyoto JR station, just a couple of stops. There is a starbucks just around the corner, if you need western coffee, and lots of restaurants, albeit quite expensive. The room was clean, well appointed and modern. Great hotel, enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is located in a wonderful location, where two subway lines connect and is only 3 or 4 stops from JR Kyoto station. The hotel with its japanese style garden inside and old retro buildings outside provide a wonderful atmosphere. Furthermore, the price performance of the hotel was superb (about twice as good as others) and I would strongly recommend […] this hotel to others who would like to pay less on hotel stays and pay more on eating, shopping, and sightseeing in Kyoto. Please keep in mind, it is not a luxury hotel and the rooms are a bit small, but hey, this is Japan. All-in-all, I would enjoy staying here again. Læs mere

Very close to the subway station of 2 lines. Room is clean, and the staff are nice. The room is not large, but we are in Japan, so... The front desk can speak English.

It's probably the best hotels I've stayed for the 2 weeks in Japan. It's very close to subway station and easy to find. A beautiful hotel and above our expectation for the price we paid for. There's construction close to hotel site but I could barely hear it with the windows closed.

The hotel was very clean, room small but adequate and nice, good location near subway and restaurants and grocery store. The Onsen bath is a highlight. We'd stay again.

The Mitsui Garden is straight north of the Kyoto Train station (~$8 Taxi or try subway) and right near a main subway stop. The front desk has all day passes for the bus system which is relativly easy to use or you can get a como pass that includes the subway as well. If you're going to be traveling all over seeing the many sights, the bus is the cheapest […] way to do it as taxis are expensive and the subway system doesnt go everywhere you need. hotel with a personal feeling that can sometimes be missing in a hotel experience. Excellent management and great location.

Good location close to the main pedestrian shopping streets and not too far from Gion. Starbuck almost across the street, which is practical as, BE WARNED, the hotel (annoyingly) strictly respects the check-in time as it happens often enough in Japan unlike many other countries.

今回、三井ガーデンホテル京都三条に泊まり、とても満足でしたが洗面所にチェックイン直後に髪の毛が一本落ちており残念でした。 それ以外は大変満足てした。 しいて言えば、駐車場が無いのがちょっと 不便でした。

大浴場も快適で付近の利便性がよい

当日は仕事が遅くなり夜中のチェックインでしたが、丁寧簡潔にご案内くださったので、大浴場も十分に満喫できました。いつも出張時はバスタブでゆっくりが私のリフレッシュなので、大浴場に直行でした。 朝のバイキングはプチベジタリアンの私にぴったり。ひと手間かけた京野菜や湯豆腐でたっぷり朝食をいただいて、直帰しようとおもっていたのに気になっていたお寺で写経までして京都を楽しみました。 身体も心もが元気になった１泊でした。
