Talaris Conference Center - Seattle

This is a good hotel for is price point. Nice neighbourhood close to the hospital and a short drive from University Village shopping.

We did our reservations with an online source and when we got there to check in they had charged us a second time not knowing that the online source already charged us. For that the guy at the front desk gave us a town car to go to our Navy Submarine Ball. That was very nice of him. I'm perfectly fine with the rustic look. The Talaris was nice and tucked […] away from busy streets and loud noises and really isn't that far from in the middle of Seattle. We read the reviews for the Talaris and one review read that the towels smelled like they had been burned, and they did. They should either rethink their fabric softener or get new dryers. Other than that I have a birthday coming up and I have 2 friends coming from out of state and I know they would love to stay at the Talaris. Secluded, yet its not a long walk to UW and some restaurants. Spare modern buildings are nothing fancy, yet they are set in a rather nice landscape- particularly the breakfast area which overlooks a pond. In Seattle's expensive hotel scene, it's sort of a bargain.

It was a fantastic place to bring my dog too. It was beautiful and relaxing amidst the bustling city. I would recommend it highly particularly for those of us who travel with our dogs.

It was a wonderful enviornment; quiet and beautiful. The location is centrally located. The customer service was excellent. My sheets had a hair on them and throw pillows were not clean. The towels have a smell I would describe as burnt (maybe in dryer too long or use a fabric softener). The location is awesome, it is tucked away and very peaceful. It is as lovely as the photos. I could see a small wedding being held there. Don't know if they do that.

Outside of the hotel needs a little sprucing up. There is what appears to be moss growing on some of the roofs of the buildings [or some sort of green build-up]. Otherwise the rooms are comfortable, the setting is very serene, and the staff very helpful.

Very conveniently located. The staff was fantastic. No doubt the place is much older. It reminds me of my church camp days...staying in the old musty lodge. Had a similar "homey" feel. Overall, it's not the Hilton, but it's comfortable and clean. If you are spoiled by large chain hotels, this is not the place for you.

We needed a last minute hotel room after a very bad experience at a B&B. The Talaris Conference Center provided us with a peaceful environment. Our room was very comfortable and The staff was very friendly, helpful, and had great recommendations for us for dinner. Would definately stay here again!

Room had a 70's feel to it. Cleaning needs to be more thorough. While looking for my baby's missing bottle, found a beer bottle under the bed, wonder if it's still there. Fan cover in the bathroom was dusty, shelf was loose and angled toward the toilet so it's unusable. Great location, pleasant and friendly employees. Beautiful grounds. The room is small, but very clean and comfortable. The location for us was very convenient, but might not be for people on business trips. The grounds are like staying in a park, very quiet and serene. The front desk employees were very friendly and helpful. We will definately stay there again.

Very friendly staff and great breakfast. The shower fixture was quite old which made it somewhat difficult to turn on and when it did turn on, half the water still came out of the faucet instead of the shower head. The hotel had a very musty smell as well which of course comes from the age but maybe you could use some air fresheners. The heating/cooling […] fan in the room was quite noisy which made it a little difficult to sleep and we tried adjusting the temperature but it didn't make a difference. We really liked Talaris. We were visiting our son who is a student at UW. We normally stayed at a hotel in the University District closer to campus and a lot more expensive. Because of a football game, we could not get a room and booked a room at Talaris. It seemed pretty far from campus so we rented a car. Talaris was great. Plenty of free parking. […] Very quiet serene atmosphere. We enjoyed talking to other folks at the free continental breakfast. Services are minimal but provided promptly and congenially. We saved a lot of money by staying at Talaris and renting a car v. staying closer to the University district. I would do it again. I recommend this hotel. Læs mere

Comfortable room in an older facility. Location very close to UW campus in a lovely, wooded park setting. Hard to find after dark, and hard to navigate the conference center campus. Map from the front desk was less than helpful. By day- nice walking paths. Good breakfast. Will stay again.

Great natural setting...a little disappointed in the fact that the internet was not working for awhile. Breakfast was OK, but less than expected...also shower a little difficult to get right. But other than these minor points, I would recommend it.

The parklike setting was beautiful, very serene. However our room check-in was delayed by over an hour, (we had been there before noon to let them know we were in town) Ruthie at the reception was a delight; helped us with maps and info for around Seattle and hotspots in our vicinity.Kudos to her. On the downside is the issue of tree sap all over our […] two-week old car. All parking spots are under the trees so there is no where to park away from them. Loved the outside gardens and ambiance but the walls were rather thin and we could hear the neighbors next door with little children. Also we were given a room right next to the maid headquarters so sleeping in was pretty impossible.

Never goin back. Staffs were rude and were always out of reach; first floor rooms were basically see through because the blinds were made out of paper! Dispute having the "do not disturb" sign on, maid kept knocking on door early in the morning!!! Located in park-like setting amidst a fashionable residential area between Seattle Children's Hospital and University of Washington, it is an excellent place for anyone with business at either of those or, like us, with friends and relatives living nearby. A bit remote from Seattle's other attractions and commercial districts, a car is essential for […] most sightseeing or shopping. The grounds of the complex are amazing. If you want a place in the city that makes you feel like you're in a cabin in the woods, this is an ideal place. Because it is tucked away, it can be challenging to find the first time, but having on-site parking was great. Every member of the staff I encountered was extremely helpful, very friendly and went out […] of their way to make sure my stay was pleasant. However, the room itself lacked good sound-proofing and I could hear the conversations from the adjacent room. Not, I-could-hear-people-talking, no, I could hear their exact conversation. I was so surprised to find this gem tucked away in Seattle! It's just a mile or so to the University Shopping Center, which is a gorgeous outdoor area, with restaurants, shopping and plenty of free parking. It was a 10 minute drive from the Space Needle area and was very quiet. I couldn't have been more pleased!

Really liked this hotel. I believe it was built some time ago as a retreat and the grounds and external ambiance were great. Hotel room itself was a litle dated, but very clean and comfortable. Really liked it and would definately stay there again.

Simple but quite adequate rooms in lovely, park-like setting. Doesn't feel like being in a hotel at all ... more like a retreat, yet in the middle of the city, and walking distance to restaurants, etc.

We found the Talaris, because we're traveling with our 4 year old Lab, and it's pet friendly. The rates were reasonable, and our room was comfortable. Though the convention center is "older," it has been renovated and is well-kept and clean. The GROUNDS (14 acres!) are well-groomed with ponds, trees, and lots of grassy areas for our dog to run and play […] fetch. The staff was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful -- and we even benefited from a free guest laundry. It's close to the U District where we found restaurants and about a half hour drive in traffic to the city center. We will stay there again on another visit to Seattle. Highly recommended! Læs mere

Everything is very good except that there is a double door between our room (C7) and the next and it is not sound proof at all. We could hear voices from the room next to us and they probably could hear the noise from our TV.

We had a toilet that had trouble flushing and the unusual heat was more than the air conditioner could keep up with. It was a great experience to be at the hotel. It was a hotel in the forest: the environment was geat and the access to stores and the UW was convenient. Parking was very easy, too.

We were in Seattle for a doctors consultation at University of Washington and the appointment was at 8:45 so we wanted somewhere close by to avoid alot of the morning traffic. Worked out great! The grounds are very pleasant with trees and greenery everywhere. The room we stayed in was on the small side but very clean and accommodating. Had a Keurig […] coffee maker, small fridge, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, did not have a microwave though. Only real complaint would be that you could not lower the air conditioning lower than 74 degrees and it was hot and humid in Seattle that day so the room never did get cooled down enough for our liking. Also, the windows did not open so you could not get fresh air unless you opened your door. However, for the great price, we really can't complain about anything. Læs mere
