Green Tulum - Tulum

Beautiful little place just off the edge of downtown Tulum. It's off there main road and in it's own little jungle, with fantastic round cabins. In the middle is a very cooling pool, bar and breakfast room. They have great little touches like their own organic soap and have a nice eco friendly vibe. This place is absolutely gorgeous! It is a little slice of paradise found just up from the main hustle and bustle of the main road in Tulum. The palapas are a great size, beautiful to look at and have everything in them that you could need to be comfortable. Four poster beds with flowing clean white mosquito nets and a little sofa, side table, cupboard, […] etc were all available in the palapa too. Although they are not near to the beach - they have a very clean and well-maintained pool and if you want to go anywhere (beach, town centre, etc) it's roughly a 30 peso cab ride away, so not a big deal at all.. The owner and his staff are incredibly friendly and accomodating and really take pride in keeping everything in great running order. Furthermore there is a great little breakfast to be had in the palapa by the pool and free wifi internet throughout the complex. I thought this hotel was very neat. The plants & trees on the property were very well kept. It felt like staying at a hotel in the middle of the rain forest. The reason I did not like this hotel and probably would not return is for one reason only.....Location. I thought the location was terrible. It's basically on the outskirts of town, about as […] far from the beach as I could tell. Walking into town from the hotel is not a long walk, but I felt like the area seemed a little sketchy. It's past the last police checkpoint in town and you have to walk past some pretty run down buildings. After the first night we relied on cabs instead of walking, which are plentiful and not that expensive if you negotiate the fare before you get in the cab. Looks very nice and comfortable, however the two-level "bungalows" are made off concrete which makes them freezing cold, and you can here everything your upstairs neighbour is doing. Not all guests had hot shower. No TV. Poor Wi-fi in the room. Hotel is as far away as you can get to the beach or Maya ruins staying in Tulum.

The property is very overpriced for the area. The hotel should have been half of the price...or less.

The hotel was located just out of town, about 5min walk away so excellent location. The rooms were very romantic, and comfortable. However there was no hot water (though often the weather was so hot that it didn't matter) Wireless internet was temperamental, and often didn't work. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay here!

Hotel management is super friendly and helpful. He responded promptly to all my requests. He was also very knowledgeable about the sights and attractions (and related transportation and prices) in and around Tulum. The bungalow rooms are charming. My only complaint is that on the webpage, the hotel is described as having king beds - they have only queens. […] There were also no complimentary water bottles - but I did see drinkable water in the kitchen. Other reviewers have complained about the noise, and I am sad to confirm that it is true - the hotel's proximity to the road makes for a rather noisy night, which was exacerbated because of road construction. Where to start? Do not be mislead by the hotel description or its advertizing. Just so you know where our perspective comes from; We are Europeans who have lived in many countries, I am ex-military with 25 years of living in all sorts of good and bad conditions. We had just spent 5 months living in the jungle in Chiapas, MX. Location: Advertised as […] 'close to beach......' 'in the heart of Tulum'. This is the furthest hotel from any beach in Tulum, approximately 5 miles/8 Km and is actually located outside the town limits of Tulum. You can walk into the town to eat/drink/shop, but be prepared for an 'interesting' walk. We did try walking to the beach, 1 1/2 hours later we could at least hear the sea - and we walk at a good pace! Located next to the main road a gas station and a 24 hour tire repair shop/junkyard some may find it difficult to sleep! TOP TIP: A cab will cost $75 MX to the beach/ruins, but if you walk to ADO bus station, you can get a bus to the ruins for $8 MX and walk to the beach from there. Also look out for 'collectivos' or 'shuttle buses' to the beaches. Breakfast: When we booked, we paid an additional $2 US each for a 'buffet' breakfast, to enhance the free continental breakfast. The buffet in reality was merely a choice of 3 kinds of cereal. The continental breakfast was coffee and 1 1/2 slices of toast each. The toast was made from the cheapest kind of white bread available, the coffee was either bad or very bad. For an extra $4 US or $45 MX per person you could have eggs. In all the breakfast was a complete rip-off. Rooms: Advertized as having AC. For AC read holes in the roof. There is a ceiling fan, but because of the holes in the roof, the bed has a plastic sheet over the top, thus making the fan useless. The cabanas can best be described as 'rustic'. They are poorly and cheaply constructed, with 'victorian' plumbing. Be patient when waiting for the hot water to finally appear. Ideal for a backpacker with low expectations, but not worth Læs mere

Everything was very nice... wish there had been a little better ventilation, the ceiling fan didn't quite do it. Nice ambiance and friendly staff.

This place is great. A great price, and everything you need. I booked one night here, but ended up staying 3. The rooms are very cute palapa style, and there are bed nets and an earthy beachy decor. This is more a natural eco hotel, and not for someone looking for fancy or cable. It is in town a bit, but a short drive to the beach (we had a car) and […] the ruins. You can easily walk into town, and I believe there is a walk to the beach, but we didnt try it. Beautiful gardens, and pool. The nicest part was the people. Very kind, helpful and available. I read previous reviews that said the highway was loud and problems with breakfast. I never heard the highways (some roosters, but we didnt mind) and breakfast was fine. You may need to ask if you want anything additional or eggs, but they do have this, you just need to ask. Anyways, great deal to save money, and the environment as well! We plan to go back here. Hotel grounds and pool area are beautiful--well maintained tropical paradise. Cabanas (rooms) are really different and interesting with their thatched roofs and handmade furniture. Room was very clean considering the buildings are all open air. Our stay was in late March and an the daytime temperatures were in the upper 80s with 70s at night and very […] humid. The beds have mosquito netting and plastic sheeting over that (to keep out the rain?) so it wasn't really possible to feel the breeze from the ceiling fan. The first night of our stay there was a strong breeze thru the windows but the second night it was still and the room became miserably hot and humid. At 3am I went outside and slept in the hammock for awhile. Overall this is a very interesting and well maintained property but if you don't like to sleep in the heat, check the temps before booking a room. Læs mere

If you love the sound of truck engine brakes 24 hours a day/night stay here. Farthest location from anywhere, barely in town so no option of walking anywhere, would need a car/taxi to get to the beach or could rent bikes for a REALLY long bike ride to the beach(biking to downtown would not be too long). The room is very dim at night even with all the […] lights on so difficult to even read and there is no TV. The only really nice things here are the gardens on the grounds are beautiful, has a small pool, a hammock in front of your suite, room "looks" cute and rustic but other then that I fully regret staying here. Our friends got a spot right downtown, walking distance to anything going on downtown for less than half. The door to the suite is not made well or hung properly so found a huge spider in the bed. A place with actual doors and double beds for 10%/night next door, night "watchmen" watching everything close up and creepy, no privacy from staff or your neighbors (I could hear people above us snoring through my earplugs. Having to find and then argue with staff to go to the store after midnight because it's on lockdown and being told if the police see you with a beer you'll go to jail (ha ha ha..... thats a Mexico 1st!!) Do yourself a favor. Don't book small town hotels in advance. If I got arrested for that beer in my hand, I would have at least got a good nights sleep. Læs mere

A really nice hotel in terms of the way it looks - safe, relaxed, attractive. Big drawback is that it is 10-15 minutes hike into the village and the far side from the beach road. Walking in wasnt that nice in the dark as you pass car workshops, rough land etc and there is no pavement or shade. The hotel really needs a regular shuttle into the village. […] The noise of the main road is quite high from the upper rooms although I got used to it eventually. The staff work hard and are very friendly. Apparently a road to the beach is going to be constructed sometime which would really make it a good place to stay. Great service, cabanas well presented

It is a quiet and really cute hotel off the main drag of Tulum. It's a good place to go if you don't want to see many gringos and is a short walk to the main part of Tulum. The staff were very, very accommodating and the service was top notch. I believe were the only people at the hotel while we were there. Tucked a little off the beaten track but beautifully designed to fit into a jungle. Lovely Log Cabin style rooms with Four Poster bed/Mossie nets, nice pool with very comfie sunbeds. Only downside to this hotel is the rooms provide no sound proofing, although surrounded by jungle which gives the impression of being miles away from it all, a busy road […] and lorry park run close along the back and there was noise all night long. The Green Tulum is an extraordinary find. The cabanas are very charming and private, each surrounded by luxuriant tropical vegetation. The furniture is all handmade, and everything has a modern, yet rustic feel to it. My bathroom faucet was a conch shell! The thatched roofs are very well-made compared to other cabanas I've been in, and my cabana was […] cool to sleep in, even on a rather steamy night. A delightful, kidney-shaped pool was a great place to unwind after a hot day at the ruins, chat with the owners, who were very friendly, and chill out before dinner. A nice, full breakfast was included, and the staff rented me a cruiser bike for very cheap for the day to go to the ruins and the beach. I also used it to get in and out of town for dinner. The only drawback was finding the place, but I made it hard by trying to go on foot. Get a taxi for $2-3 at the bus station and tell them that you want to go to the cabanas on the street across from the gas station on the south side of town. This will get you there no problem (people in town confused the name with other cabanas with "Tulum" in the name...). I will definitely return with my family the next time we are in the Yucatan, and I will wholeheartedly recommend it to friends. Læs mere

Being from Seattle and traveling all over the world I have been to many hotels. The Green Tulum is the place to stay! The staff was very friendly, they even met us outside the night we arrived, it was past 9pm. Dave the manager showed us multiple rooms and let us choose! The Green Tulum is pretty cool, it's about a 10 min walk to the main strip of […] Tulum. It has about 10 cabanas, with each one having a restroom & shower or tub. In the middle is a pool, a bar & a place that they serve you a full breakfast in the morning. Pepe makes the best eggs! We got so connected to the staff that is was sad to leave. The night guy Neftali kept us company at the bar and made us feel like family. If you go to Cancun, take a shuttle to Tulum and stay at the Green Tulum! Læs mere

Le cadre et les chambres font rêver... Par contre accueil pas très sympa, pas de bouteille d eau offerte (pas très grave mais pourquoi le préciser sur le site), pas de coffre sécurisé non plus comme annoncé, l hôtel se veut écolo mais nos serviettes ont été changées chaque jour alors qu elles étaient bien pendues, petit dej inclus moyen (café reconstitué, […] jus d orange type tang, 2 toasts et avec un peu de chance et si vous demandez des oeufs), hôtel excentré, absolument pas proche de la plage (si ce n'est à vol d oiseauen traversant la jungle)... Le gros problème : le bruit. Celui de la route toute proche (avec le contrôle de police), les chiens qui hurlent, le coq qui commence son chant à 4 h du matin et surtout, la musique assourdissante a l exterieur de l hotel de 22 h à 4 voire 5 h du matin, avec animateur ( le 2 eme soir on avait acheté des boules quies, c était tout juste suffisant).. Bon le cuisinier nous a dit que c était un festival de musique maya qui dure une semaine mais aucune trace en ville dudit festival, pas plus sur internet pendant nos dates et la musique maya s est transformée un soir en soirée techno... Trés jolie hotel dépaissant ! un peu difficile à trouver.. mais tellement jolie...

L'hotel si trova fuori dal paese di Tulum e non è affacciato sulla spiaggia. Per raggiungere l'accesso pubblico alla spiaggia bisogna attraversare tutto il paese di tulum (solo con macchina o taxi). Le camere sono molto "spartane" e l'arredo è molto semplice. La nostra camera era attaccata al generatore che funzionava tutta notte per caricare l'acqua […] per il giorno dopo (impossibile dormire). El encargado nada servicial, los pasillos para acceder a tu cabaña en total obscuridad, no cuentan con agua para tomar, no hay intimidad entre las cabañas se escucha todo, las toallas viejas una rota y la otra de otro hotel. The staff at the hotel very friendly, but some of them didn't speak any English. The rooms nice, and not like the ordinary hotel room - both on the positive and negative side. No isolation means a lot of noise in the room, both from the nature, the street outside and from other guests. Had to keep the shower going for quite some time before there was […] any hot water. On the positive side, it was a very unusual kind of hotel and very nice price! Breakfast ok, nice but small pool area with small posibilities to lay in the sun. No problem to walk into the centre of Tulum with all the restaurants, but there's no pavement and dark in some places - so maybe not anything for children or elderly. You have to take a taxi to the beach, but it's quite cheap. And the beach is amazing!!! Læs mere

Green Tulum is a rather new hotel right at the southern end of the Tulum village. It consists of cabanas, pool area and a breakfast area in a well-kept jungle-like environment. Everything is very clean and the cabanas are nicely decorated with innovative use of conches as lamps and water taps. Also the common areas are very clean and nice. Service […] is excellent. The staff is friendly without being too formal. Everybody are really doing their best to make you feel welcome. The only minus COULD be the location and the surroundings. Green Tulum is not even near the beach, but instead at the southern border of the Village. However, they rent bicycles which can be used for riding to the center of the village, the beach or the ruins, which are a few kilometers away. The surroundings are a bit depressing with unfinished land and the main road which is quite close to the area. However, the traffic sounds were not disturbing. Overall, this is a good option for those who do not want to stay in more basic and sandy beach huts, but prefer a cleaner atmosphere and a pool with friendly service nearby the village. Læs mere

The garden of the hotel was beautiful and the personnel nice. But ,becareful the green Tulum hotel is not located on the beach. Besides, the cabane are not as confortable as a normal room.

Green Tulum is an excellent place. We really enjoyed it, authentic, with dedicated personnal. The rooms in cabañas are so sympathic, the swimming pool in a big plus. The only bad point would be that you need to take a cab to go to the beach, but that's the same for almost all the hotels and the owner seems to have good prices with the taxis. Visit the […] archeological site. The beach to go is Playa Paraiso: simply magical ! Læs mere

I have there for 2 nights and the service was excelente. Lazaro help me in every thing and even given some tips above my trip to Palenque and Tikal on Guatemala. He is very care and give all support for the turist. I stronghly recomends this hotel.

Hotel is very cute, in traditional cabanas but with the comfort (bathrooms) around an adorable little garden and pool. Staff is very friendly. No air conditioning in the rooms but mosquito nets allow to sleep with the windows open. Hotel is relatively close to Tulum village center (an ugly little city) but I guess an hotel closer to the sea (and the […] Tulum site) would have been better. Læs mere
