This is a great hotel! Situated right in the middle of the city, close to Penn Station, the bus terminal and Times Square. No noise from streets or cars at all. The staff were VERY friendly, rooms were great, clean and comfy. Liked that somebody closed the curtains and made my bed ready for the night :) Breakfast was really one of the best on a 23 day […] road trip all across the US. The bar on top of the hotel is SO cool and definitively worth a visit - Great view of Empire State. Only thing was that Housekeeping didn't show up until after 4pm one day, which is to late i think. Vi ankom til The Strand Hotel fredag den 22.07.2011 og blev godt modtaget. Reservation var i orden og vi fik en super service i receptionen. Vi fik bl.a. at vide at ved skranken ved siden af receptionen var der bemanding hele dagen som kunne hjælpe med kort, seværdigheder, booke billetter og finde ønskede oplysninger om f.eks. musik. Morgenmad er god […] og der mange valgmuligheder. Restauranten er rigtig god. Vi spiste der 3 gange og var meget godt tilfredse - service er i top. Hotellet har en tagterrasse med bar. Den er meget lækkert indrettet og flot udsigt til Empire State Building som er oplyst om aftenen. Perfekt beliggenhed mellem 5. og 6. Ave. Værelset var godt indrettet og fint badeværelse. Læs mere

Meget lækkert Hotel placeret helt centralt og til rimmelig pris. God lækker morgenbuffet og god service.

Centralt beliggende og i gåafstand til det meste. Flot udsigt fra bar på tagetage. I det store og hele tilfreds med hotellet dog: værelset var ret lille breakfast lidt kedelig restaurant lidt kedelig

Dejligt at se tilbage på 6 fantastiske overnatninger på dejlige Manhatten. Ligger tæt på Empire State, Time Square, shopping mv. Hotellet virker nyt, luksuøst og med super betjening. Altid venlige mennesker i receptionen uanset tidspunktet med gratis kvalitetsparaplyer til udlån når vejret driller. Morgenmaden i restauranten var inkluderet og overgik […] alle forventninger med græsk yoghurt, frisk frugt, masser af forskelligt brød, sandwich, ost, skinke og kylling serveret i hyggelige omgivelser. Et utroligt dejligt hotel, med flotte og rene værelser. Dejligt med morgenmad som var en del af opholdet. Dejligt centralt, bestemt et hotel vi vil benytte os af igen. Bar øverst på hotellet er fantastisk med udsigt over byen.

Dejligt hotel lige i hjertet af New York, så man kun behøver at bevæge sig få skridt for at tage bus eller subway, hvis man skal væk fra bymidten. Dygtigt og venligt personale, dejlige værelser, hvor vi dog kunne have brugt lidt mere plads ud over de to dobbeltsenge - f.eks. et par lænestole. Lækker morgenmad. Vi kommer gerne tilbage.

Der var rigtig god morgenmad. Selvom continetal kan betyde hvad som helst, saa var det en rigtig god start paa dagen. Hotelservice var upaaklagelig. Vi boede paa 17 etage, saa der var god udsigt.

The rooftop lounge is the absolute best - What an awesome view of the Empire State Bldg! The room is small but comfy - Soooo can't beat the location. People are very friendly - We'll def return!

Super comfy, clean, quiet room. Helpful nice staff. This hotel is arond the corner from Times Square and mMaceys it is within walking to Central Park and Grand Central Terminal. The Empire State Building is 800 feet sway and the view from the roof top bar is fabulous! Would absolutely recommend this hotel.

I've stayed here three times over the last year and would happily recommend it to anyone. It's a great value in Manhattan - good location, very clean, modern and great staff.

Loved the stay in the Strand. We had booked a 2 double bed with view of the Empire State Building. The room was really clean and comfortably furnished. The room size was pretty decent compared to NY standards. The Restaurant of the first floor was very impressive where we enjoyed our breakfast/brunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby is small but attractive. The stàff Was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were a good size for Manhattan and clean, although I didn't find the iPad they advertised for usage in the room. The bathroom was beautiful and towels soft and fluffy.

Stayed in a deluxe double. rooms were small but typical NYC size. Beds comfy & room clean. Really nice view of empire state building. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again if my goal was to be in this part of NYC. We walked to times square easily in a few minutes.

Very impressed with the warmth and exuberance of the staff - from bellboys to front desk to cleaning staff. Great location.

The Strand is a geat Hotel with friendly staff. The bed was very comfortable. The Roof Top Bar had a great view of the Empire State Building.

Close to Penn Station, friendly staff.. Hotel was nice and clean.. Room was modern, but a little cramped.. Would stay there again!!!

The hotel was amazing. It was spotless and the service was excellent. The room was a little small but perfect for the amount of time we were there. I found this to be a nice place to stay. I chose the executive room upgrade, and the room was large and comfortable. The staff was exceptionally courteous and helpful. Laundry service was fine. The restaurant was very good for a full breakfast. I found the rooftop bar too loud to stay long. As noted previously, the hotel does add an automatic 18% tip […] onto food and drink tabs, so make sure you don't tip twice. The neighborhood is safe, but has two adult stores, lots of bead stores (!), and some nicer areas right around the corner. Læs mere

loved it loved it loved it! The hotel bar has the best view of the Empire state building. the room the clean and quiet and the staf was nice and helpful the local was great right around the corner from Macys witch made my lovely wife happy as this was our first time to NYC

The Strand Hotel was a great weekend retreat for my husband and I. The room was comfortable and clean. Whew!! What a relief, as it was our first stay at the Strand and as every seasoned NYC traveler knows, not all hotels live up to their ratings. Macy's and Lord and Taylor are easy shopping as both stores are just around the corner in either direction […] from the hotel. If you have extra time go see "The Million Dollar Quartet". Well Located, friendly and helpfull employees, cleanliness, modern are all treasons for returning to this hotel. Try it.

I cannot say enough about the staff, they were very friendly and helpful with everything we needed and all interactions. Food was great as well.

Very clean, great views from our 15th floor room, breakfast was well done, and the staff was very nice and professional. Also, I liked that it was a smaller hotel, so you don't get lost in the lobby or feel like your part of some herd. Will return. Also, great roof top bar with a lovely views.

The staff where very friendly and helpful. I would have liked a sit down breakfast. I didn't care for the breakfast at all they only had skim milk,plus not alot 2 choose from.

Everything was good, except that the room was very small.

When I booked this trip, I picked the strand because I did not believe it could live up to the great reviews. It did. I walked everywhere I wanted to go from this hotel. Looking forward to staying there again. Room is small but it's NYC! Roomier than my parents or sister's manhattan condos

The staff was nice, The location was OK we can see the empire state building. BUT..The TV's brightness was dark and it can't be changed. You can hear when the room upstairs is using their bathroom from our room. So many noises coming from other rooms. The advertisement of Self-Parking for $37 when I asked the Valet parking staff about self-parking they […] didn't know what I was talking about, therefore, we end up valet parking our car. Læs mere

For a boutique hotel, it was a surprice to find the rooms were very large and bathroom too. It was very quiet on the weekend. No honking cars or trucks rumbling by. This was our 2nd stay.The Strand is a welcoming place, spacious rooms, wonderful breakfasts, conveniently located to Times Square. We love the roof top garden.

The hotel is good location, reception quite friendly, but the breakfast was a poor poor provide and no services almost.

The deluxe King Room is not what I thought it would be. The bed was very uncomfortable and 2 days after leaving, my back still hurts. For the money, you can find something much better.

Very comfortable, fresh,and quiet room. Only 8 or 9 rooms per floor means very little foot traffic outside your door. Never heard any neighbors or elevator. Well-stocked self-service breakfast included in the rate. Nice rain shower head and bathrobes/slippers. Fitness room small but with up-to-date cardio equipment and free weights. Nobody used it but […] me. Not as inexpensive as some options you may be considering but also more reasonable than the icons on the Upper East side. 37th Street a little south of "Main and Main" but still quite central. The Strand Hotel is a boutique hotel with friendly service. They make you feel welcome. The breakfast area needs work and the breakfast menu falls short. I would like to see some fresh berries and corn muffins. We don't need sandwiches for breakfast. We asked for a robe that came the NEXT day. Our room was very clean and bed very comfortable.
