Cathedral Quarter Hotel - Derby

Congratulations on your staff all of whom were most kind, especially the Italian bar manager. Given we had a three night stay we were very disappointed with the small size of our room, not suitable for sitting in. Disappointed not to be able to have dinner in the hotel prior to the theatre on Saturday even though the data in our room said we could. […] Then on Sunday evening we also had to find somewhere to eat because a wedding had taken over the whole place. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the hotel last week. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't have been more helpful at reception. The food for breakfast each morning was delicious, however on our second morning the service was not up to scratch. We had no butter for toast and there was nobody around to help unless we went knocking on the door […] into the kitchen which shouldn't have been the case. The parking for the hotel was extremely poor. There is no car park and the pay and display system is extremely expensive outside the hotel. On the morning of our departure, we were left with a parking fine as we packed up our bags into the car as our ticket was 7 minutes out after paying 3 pounds until 10 a.m. This put a real dampner on the break away. It would be of huge benefit to any guests with a car if this wonderful hotel could provide some safe and inexpensive parking for its guests in close proximity to the hotel itself. Læs mere

I travel for work and have spent a significant amount of time hotel hopping in Derby trying to find the best place around the town centre to stay. The CQH is by far the best with courteous and friendly staff, well decorated and individual rooms (although some are on the small side) and a good location. Hearty recommended!

Lovely hotel with a great restaurant. My stay was severely disturbed due to intoxicated inconsiderate guests during the night. The Hotel have discussed the issue with me, made an appology to me, and offered a free nights accomodation in compensation. Overall the hotel is lovely.

We stayed over as a treat for my husbands birthday.the staff were fantastic nothing too much trouble.the only down point is the parking has it cost ten pounds to leave it over night but was very safe.would stay here again.natasha

This hotel is a real gem. The situation is fine, but the staff are really first class in every way. I arrived by car, and the hotel receptionist guided me to a parking spot on the forecourt. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay! You will never find a better value for your money or a better staff. This hotel would be great for a homebase in seeing the Midlands!!!

The setting is wonderful for Derby's centre and the building is nice. But it shows signs of being done on the cheap. Our room was the largest and most expensive on offer (room 2), but it felt cramped - a big contrast to the photo. Worse than that the plumbing was poorly installed and in poor repair. Blocked sink drain and shower installed so it flipped […] from too hot to too cold. Also insufficient water pressure for the shower. One of the two toilet flush options seemed not installed. When there was a fire alarm as the kitchen staff burnt something during breakfast on Sunday morning, the only thing the hotel staff seemed to be concerned about was taking a register of the guests. This is important, but what about seeing if those of us who had some out into the morning air with only what we stood up in were warm enough? Not good enough for the price. Læs mere

This is a great hotel with great staff.. The only thing you should be aware is that there is no car park. We were lucky as we stayed on a Friday night so could use the car park next door - I'm not sure what you would do during the week.

Absolutely lovely hotel! Nice,friendly and efficient staff, great location, the only problem is parking although the hotel get a discount on their customers using the "parksafe" car park at the bottom of the road. Would recommend to all

Stayed in Derby as it was near to Alton Towers. Staff were so friendly, stunning hotel and room was so clean and well presented. We parked in the park safe car park which is seconds away. This was something i was worried about but was not a problem plus we got 30% off overnight parking as we got a stamp from the hotel. Cost about £7 a night and its […] one of the safest car parks. Breakfast was included and was really good. On one night we had a cocktail in the hotels cocktail bar as it was 2-4-1 Sun to Thurs. The location is really good and we walked to the shops quite easily. Overall we were really happy with the stay. We booked a Junior room which was quite small but we didnt even notice. Læs mere

The hotel was nicely refit with a balance of new and old world style. Was a quiet week when I was there so they generously upgraded my room. Very nice breakfast included.
