Holiday Inn Express & Suites Waukegan - Waukegan

We were very pleased, I think it was one of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. The service was great. I would recommend it.

The hot tub was hot and after my last two hotel experiences, this alone made you 5-star!

Everyone went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Full breakfast, close to wal-mart and restaurants. If you are going to Bootcamp graduation, take the $3 shuttle that leaves from the hotel. It is 4 miles away and takes just a few minutes. Those who drove said they spent 45 minutes looking for a parking place.

Hotel is easy to find, large parking lot, near to restaurants, Walmart and the Tollway. Good location.

I go here all the time. It is a good place to get away. The staff is really nice and friendly. If you have any problems, they are more than willing to help.

Wonderful stay! I have to admit I was a little concerned with some of the other reviews I had read from other sites. Our in room heater/ac worked. There are light blocking curtains in behind the sheer ones to pull closed. The amount of blankets on the bed was perfect didn't even need to use the blue one. The room was very clean. No questionable hair […] or debris like you find in some others particularly in the corners or in any part of the room or linens for that matter. It's the same kind of clean that you're meticulous grandmother would have for guests coming over. Probly could of ate off the floor if you wanted to kinda clean. The water in the shower was nice and hot and stayed that way the whole hour and a half or so I was in there (a girl needs to be pampered) and it was scalding if you had it turned up all the way. Didn't get to use gym or pool so I can't tell you about that. The employees were very nice and accomodating from check in to check out and breakfast. And none of them were the same. The hotel is modern and clean. Breakfast is provided, but is uninspiring. The room was nice and clean. Our biggest disappointment is that the indoor pool was pretty cold and the hot tub did not have working jets. Without working jets, it's an intimate bath with strangers.

When we arrived we were very happy to have a nice quiet room on the first floor. As we entered the room we found a cricket in the bathroom. That would have spoiled the quiet room. As I opened the bed, to finally rest, there was a big live bug in the bed. Gross. The attendant came and collected the bug and I continued to inspect the bed and found a piece […] of shreaded lettuce between the sheet and matress pad. We asked for another room but felt very creepy crawly all night. When we went the pool the hot tub did not work:( I would maybe try a holiday express of my choice if it was free. Læs mere

We stayed overnight I. One of the whirlpool suites and it was very nice. It is very close to Six Flags and Gurnee Mills mall. Friendly staff and clean rooms!

Hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff worked with me getting all my rooms for Family together. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel after spending the entire day at Great America, and it was an extremely pleasant place to crash! It was conveniently located about 3 miles away, near a newer shopping complex that has a Walmart and several restaurants. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, and they have a wonderful hot breakfast. I was a little disappointed […] with hotels.com--they switched our reservation from 2 double beds to a king and a sofabed (which was pretty uncomfortable for my daughter) without notifying us. I went for my son's graduation from navy boot camp. Not only was the area beautiful but the young lady at the desk named Ann was absolutely wonderful. She was helpful and informative. When the hotel is great and the staff is so kind and helpful it makes for a great experience. thank you Ann! Millie

no serious problems at all. the staff was very nice and it was only a few miles from great america and gurnee mills. ONLY complaint is that there were no shades on the windows....I'm a 25 yr old male vacationing with his GF...I NEED shades on the windows at night. This was very odd to me. Basically it was like clear table clothes being used as shades […] so at 6 in the morning the sun came BEAMING into the room and there was NOTHING we could do about it. So no privacy at night (we're on the 3rd floor, but it's still unsettling for a romantic night) and harsh for trying to sleep in. otherwise....fun stay. Læs mere

Stayed here for Navy Graduation. Within minutes to the base. Room was very clean.

We chose this hotel because it was close to Great Lakes. We resereved two rooms. The staff was very accomadating to us. Extra towels etc. The breakfast was very good. and fresh.

While the hotel was in an ideal location, close to Gurnee Mills and Six Flags; my experience there was less than substandard. At 2:00am, our smoke alarm went off and we woke to a room full of smoke. The heater malfunctioned and must have burned up whatever was inside of it. After fanning the smoke detector with my pillow, it finally turned off. We also […] turned the heater off and we remained cold the rest of the night. The alarm clock also woke us up at 6:00 in the morning even though we did not set it. You would think the housekeeping staff would check that it is not set for future room guests. Upon checking out of the room, we informed the front desk of our heater incident. The smoke alarms are obviously not part of a main alerting unit at the front desk. The front desk clerk told us the heater malfunctioned because the maintenance person had not prepared the rooms for the cold season yet. While the hotel amenities were everything I expected from a Holiday Inn Express I found the noise level very high. My room was on the first floor hallway and the screaming, shrill children running unattended in the halls after 10:00 PM were a distinct annoyance. The acoustics of the lobby must be very good as groups standing in the lobby could be heard […] from a distance - particularly the children on sugar highs. As a businss person I found the noise very disturbing and was woken in the night by the shrieking children who appeared to be unattended in the adjoining room - It must have been a large family to have so many young children in one room. Enjoyed hotel, but experienced frustration when trying you use the business center. One computer station and the internet connection wasn't working at the time. Even after a trip to the front desk to report and a visit from a maintenance technician, internet connection wasn't restored.

The hotel appears to be fairly new. It's clean. The location is good. It's close to a Walmart and bowling alley. The room was clean. The pool was nice. The breakfast was pretty good. This hotel is now my home away from home in Waukegan.

Friendly staff, new hotel so everyhting is clean. Great breakfast, good location to the Navy base, about 4 miles and easy to get to. This hotel is near Walmart, McDonalds, Starbucks and Chilies.

The desk clerk who checked us in was very helpful and extremely kind. Our room was exactly what we had seen on the pictures and Hotels.com saved us over $100.00. We had a wonderful trip and our hotel room only added to the enjoyment. It was a vacation we were able to go home and say we had a wonderful relaxing time.
