Great Hallingbury Manor - Stansted

Super god.

Hotel was at the end of the runway. The windows catches were broken and did not close properly, there fore we had to have the heater on high all night to combat the cold winter air coming in, but could not do anything to block the noise of the airplanes landing and taking off. We had booked two rooms and one was so bad with the smell of damp we had […] to have it changed. You could see a line in the wood were the damp went up to! We had a nice meal and left a tip for the waitress, only to find the next day that we were charged over 10 percent for service charge. Before we went to our room we stopped at the bar to take a drink with us and were charged another lot of service charge. If the service is good I will leave a tip, but I object to it being taken without my permission. On the good side the towels were bath sheets and not the normal small bath towel that you can hardly get round you. Læs mere

Very nice hotel and room, but you'd expect this for the price. Was disappointed with my overall experience because I asked the receptionist if there was a computer for guest use and she simply said "we have wifi but no computers". I was en route home from a trip to Asia and didn't bring a portable mobile device because I wanted to be away from the office, […] and the staff made no attempt to help me access a computer to print off my train confirmation and flight boarding pass. The rooms were exceptional. The only downside was the hotel being right on the flight path for Stanstead, saying that it did not stop me sleeping or wake me up in the morning, but it is certainly noticeable.

Lovely Hotel shame about the flight path noise.

Very nice place with a damp, rabbits and birds. Very sympathic crew, good breakfast. Only problem is the planes landing very close and noisy, but stopping from midnight to 6am.

If you want something more than just a hotel room near the airport this is a beautiful traditional country inn setting with good food and drink. Rooms are very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. But there is no escaping that you are very convenient to the Stansted airport as you hear the flights going overhead. Asking for a groundfloor […] room would be a good choice. I'd gladly stay again. Læs mere

My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel on a saturday night.We booked a standard room which was beautiful so I can't imagine what the superior rooms must be like.The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.The cooked breakfast was very good although they seemed to be rationing the butter!!!! I arrived very late in the evening for an early flight next morning, breakfast was not an option (but was a little pricey) I discovered later that my bed frame was broken which left me rather uncomfortable. Great TV but no handset to switch it on?? Otherwise the room was small but well appointed and it was my first stay here.

Great hotel, cheap, lots of parking and a quiet area away from major roads. The only problem being that it's on the main flight path from Stanstead airport, so expect aircraft noise on a constant basis. Well insulated windows would help, but the ones in my room didn't close properly. The hotel is well laid out, clean and comfortable, the food is expensive […] - so eat elsewhere in the evenings. This is generally a wedding hotel, although I used it for business. Suitable for getting married, not suitable if you need a great nights sleep and work the next day. Læs mere

We booked the Great Hallingbury Manor in favour of the many "flat pack" chain hotels in and around Stanstead Airport as we were attending a wedding nearby. Staff at the hotel upon check in exceeded expectations by willingly allowing us to check in ahead of normal time of 2pm. The quality of breakfast was a bit of a disappointment but by no means would […] it put me off booking again as the over all experience was great. The worst hotel i have ever stayed in. The light outside our room didnt work, the heating didnt work, the bed was full of human hairs the room was dirty the bathroom smelt very bad, there was no hot water for a shower, no hairdyer, no telephone in the room and the bed was meant to be a double bed but they just put two singles together and a very noise […] room I felt like I was sleeping on a runway! Room 24 is located right next to the very noisy air-conditioning units, which seem to service every room except Room 24, ironically. When the Room eventually overheated in the middle of the night, we couldn't even open the window for the almighty din the other rooms air conditioning units were making. With only 3 hours till our wake up call, it hardly […] seemed worth the effort of changing rooms. It is also important to note that as friendly as the staff are, (Especially the lad who checked us in) and as attractive as the rooms are presented - the Hotel is located directly under the flight path, and irrespective of windows being open or closed, when a flight is thundering overhead, it sounds and feels as if it were actually in the room with you. The hotel is a beautiful building. The rooms are compact but have alot of character and very tastefully decorated. Disappointingly it is under the Stanstead flight path which is a little noisy, but nothing earplug cant fix! Parking is a little random and not signposted very well, and difficult to figure out when arriving at 11pm (park opposite the […] main hotel as the rooms are all part of the Manor). Unfortunately the showers (although they look fab!) were cold at 8.40am on a Friday morning, and we were told by reception that breakfast was served until 10am on a Friday, but its not, its served until 9.30am so we missed out on hot food. The restaurant staff were very apologetic and allowed us cereal.... Not ideal though. Abit disappointed after the great chat on the website. Læs mere

On arrival we were put in the annexe accross the road. we shared our room with ants, spiders fly's and mosquitos. The room was poorly equiped. We were invited to phone 24 hour reception by the welcome letter, but no phone. We were directly under the Stansted flight path, about half a mile away, with a constant flow of aircraft from early morning till […] late. Shower only in the small bathroom. no hwere to put soap or anything else. The continental breakfast was poor. However, the hotel deducted the charge from our bill for our only visit to the dining room. The hotel had that unfinnished feel to it. We will not be returning Læs mere

Großartiges Zimmer, riesiges Bad mit Großraumdusche, toller Service und das Taxi zum Airport kostet knapp 13 Pfund (5-10 Minuten)... Rechnet man das in den Zimmerpreis ein, so ist das Hotel immer noch günstiger als das Radisson direkt am Flughafen. Es versprüht den Charm eines alten englischen Landsitzes und nach einem Glas Rotwein in der tollen Bar […] bekommt auch von dem Flugverkehr nicht mehr allzuviel mit. Hotel sehr schön essen auch sehr gut. Habe dort übernahctet weil ich sehr früh zum Flughafen Stansted musste. Es hat alles wunderbar geklappt

Betjeningen var hyggelige og seviceinnstilte, rommet vi fikk var veldig koselig og varmt, i litt gammeldags stil men i helt fin stand, med fint bad g alt annet vi skulle kunne ønske oss. Hotellet ligger ikke langtu nna Stanstead airport, og man hører flyene nokså godt, men ellers var det er fantastisk opplevelseå kunne bo her.
