Hotel PJ - Seoul

This hotel was a real luxury, it had great rooms and good service. The hotel is on one of the Airport limosine bus' routes which is comfortable. Although, you are not getting more than you paid for, eg is breakfast not even included.

Hotelværelset var et stort rum med masser af god plads, herunder skabsplads samt en tilhørende altan. Der var alle nødvendige installationer og tilbehør i form af TV, køleskab m.v. Det eneste,der manglede, var et par havestole til altanen. Rengøringen var særdeles god. Der var et rum på en af etagerne, hvor der var opstillet PC´ere, således at man kunne […] få internetadgang. Personalet var særdeles hjælpsomt og venligt. Det er slående, hvor velopdragne og venlige koreanerne er. Det var i sig selv en stor oplevelse. Vi havde tilfælde, hvor vi havde akut brug for hjælp. Også i de situationer fik vi omgående bistand fra hotellets personale. De gange, vi spiste på hotellet, var maden af bedste kvalitet. Sammenfattende er det min opfattelse, at vi fik en god service, og at opholdet på hotellet var en god og tryg oplevelse. Det eneste sted, hvor det kniber, er, at koreanerne ikke er så gode til at tale engelsk. Men det er min erfaring, at det er generelt problem i samfundet. Men på grund at personalets store hjælpsomhed overvandt vi også dette lille problem. Endelig finder jeg at burde fremhæve, at jeg aldrig har mødt et mere ærligt folkefærd end koreanerne. De har derfor min store respekt. Jeg kan derfor varmt anbefale andre et ophold på hotel PJ, som ligger centralt i byen. Læs mere

I loved the location of the hotel, it was very convenient to take the subway, a cab, or the shopping shuttle. Finding food was easy in Korea, there were 2 places I ate nearby, both excellent. Only wish the front staff were friendlier.

Me and my friends stayed at the triple room, price quite reasonable for such a spacious room. Hotel location is close to Myong-dong (5 mins taxi) and the local market (廣藏市場), and the baking stree where you can find wholesales of all baking tools, wrapping items etc. 3-5 mins walk to subway, but neighbor was not very pleasant. Overall, cozy room and […] impressive with hotel small details like washroom equipped with a piece of paper mask, and cleansing foam for ladies. Hotel doesn't provide tooth brush and toothpaste but it's not a big deal. Hotel offer shuttle bus to nearby tourist spot like Myong-dong, Dong-dai-men with a round trip route, which save a lot of transportation. However, schedule only offers in a certain time range. It is nice hotel. It is near shopping area (Ming Dong) and local market (NAM DAE MUN MARKET). The room is new, very clean and big. I think they have been reconditioned.

While the hotel is fine, its restaurants close rather early (9PM) and are often close on holidays (impractical if you fly in late), without any room service. Furthermore while the hotel is clean an nice, the immediate neighbourhood is rather unpleasant. Line up at the check-in counter was a bit confusing and unorganized. When I approached the counter after seeing a couple walk away, I was reprimanded very curtly that it was not my turn and that I needed to wait. If there was a proper line up area I would have been less anxious as there was a lady who kept pacing and trying to fit herself into the counter […] to speak with someone (I'm guessing to check-in). Other than the rude service at the check-in counter everything else was smooth sailing. The room was great, very large for me and my friend. The washroom was well equipped, comfortable, and large. The bidet was intimidating so I didn't try it, but enjoyed the toilet seat warmer (hilarious but ingenious!). There was a refrigerator in the wall unit that pleasantly surprised us. I liked that there were two desk areas with mirrors. And the balcony was great as well and not noisy. I did smell a little cigarette smoke but I don't think that could be helped, it was not pungent enough to complain and change rooms. The bellhops and elevator people (I felt like they were there to press the elevator button, haha) were friendly and kept thinking I was Japanese (I'm Canadian, parents are Korean). When I needed to speak in English, I was quickly assisted by someone who was able to communicate with me. The shuttle bus was free and the driver was so kind and happy to assist. The location was a little hard to find at first but once we knew where it was, taking the shuttle bus to the shopping districts were a breeze and finding our way back by subway or taxi was easy as well. There were tons of places to eat by the hotel by walking about two blocks. But I felt Seoul was full of places to eat. I would definitely stay at the Hotel PJ again and just pack extra patience when checking in next time, maybe the lady was just having a bad day. Hotel PJ is a fine budget hotel, and if you are a deep deep sleeper, and have no problems listening to your neighbours talking or laughing until 1 am, 2 am, or hearing drunk people in the corridors at 4 am, If on the other hand, you are sensitive to noise, then STAY AWAY ! Staff not helpful at all. Not willing to extend even 1-hour late check out for us and insist we need to pay for any late check-out and they spoke extremely bad English. Want to try their Korean restaurant 3 times during my my stay (3 nights) but the restaurant never open and on the last day, it did open but refused to serve. The location is no good, […] not near 明洞. Price, Location, Facilities is very good

If you are familiar with Seoul, the location of this hotel is fine. There are 2 subway stops near this hotel ; Euljiro 3 ga station (line number 2 & 3) and Chongmuro station (line number 4). So you can reach easily wherever you want to be. Staffs are kind and nice.

The hotel provide the shuttle bus to some major metro stations and shopping malls. If it's your first visting to seoul, i suggest you take shuttle bus to look aroud the city first. It can help you to understand your location.

This is a great hotel. My only comment is that if you take the bus from the airport and you don't speak Korean it's difficult to find. I only did by luck. The room is big, the breakfast's are great and the service is top-notch.

The hotel location was not as convenient as I thought it would be. However generally, it had been a good stay for me. The service staff have been polite and helpful. The room were kept neat and clean most of the time.

Lotte City hotel (regular booking from Lotte reception) costed me the same price. you can figure out the rest of the story.

The hotel is well maintained and clean. Had a bit of trouble finding it when we first arrived, as the cab driver didn't quite seem to know the place. But once we got there, it isn't that far a walk from a main road and train station. The hotel is quite posh for the rates that we paid. Air conditioning was not available, explained as not normally needed in mid-May, but the temps in the room passed 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) in the afternoon and night time temps never fell below 26.4 degrees. Although I was traveling with a companion, only one of us was allowed a room key. Any Days Inn or Motel 6 in America will give out two room […] keys, even if not even asked for. Room looked nice, enclosed sun room was a nice touch. The views were terrific. The location is a five-minute walk from 3 different subway stops and you can walk to downtown offices in Seoul from here. The price was a good value for downtown Seoul, but the immediate neighborhood was a rather gritty commercial neighborhood. Læs mere

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was very conveniently located and was far and above what we expected for the price. Will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is actually pretty close to the subway if you don't mind traipsing along a stretch of dark deserted streets which looked as if a mugger might emerge from the shadows at any time. Despite that it's bright and cheery during the day and there are restaurants on the main street near the subway. And it was within 1 subway stop walking distance […] of myeongdong. Now the main thing that impressed me was the room. I was fortuitously upgraded to a triple room which was luxurious by my humble standards. I who have stayed in hostel dorms previously was wowed by the spacious toilet which didn't contain either a shower or a bath tub but both. I was suitably impressed by the 2 large flatscreen tv in the room, 3 large and comfortable beds, fast free wireless Internet , 3 telephones and a most unexpected corner replete with low Korean table and cushions set in the traditional style plus tea set on the table. Friendly staff. The hotel location is very hidden. The Airport bus did not stop at the front gate of the hotel making it very difficult to find the direction of the hotel.

The Hotel is unfamiliar, no public area for spending some time. Its vicinity and surroundings includes ugly unpleasant shops, and many ugly buildings, small uninviting businesses. The approach is difficult. No proper entrance. Its restaurant was close on our arrival day because of a wedding that took place. We were misleading by a positive but false […] recommendation. Its middle location can’t compensate for the ugly vicinity and cold and unattractive rooms. Don’t pay more than 100 $. We are a couple, stayed 2 nights, which we could not cancel. One of the TV in the room has no remote, THE HOTEL IS NOT RECOMMANDED! You can reach all the central places via an excellent quick subway system. I hope my criticizm will not be deleted! Læs mere

The location is excellent except you have to walk through an alley for 5-10 mins (carrying luggage) after you are dropped off by the airport bus (remember to ring the bell for getting off! The bus doesn't automatically stop at every stop). The room is great for its price. We have a little balcony and window can be opened to let in fresh air. Must bring […] your own toothbrush, there is none provided. For the fancy ones, Elemis soap is used at the bathroom. The staff are very helpful and friendly. My wife and I stayed in PJ Hotel in Seoul for one night. The room is relatively speaking big, clean and comfortable. The staff are quite friendly and could speak some English. It is conveniently located as two subway stations are nearby and within walking distances. Although it claimed that it is quite near the main Myeong Dong shopping area (700m), […] it seemed a lot further when we attempted to walk there. Hi all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to seoul, it takes a little bit to there, like the other reviews say. But once you find your way its easy and there is so much around. The room is excellent, small but excellent. Will definately be staying there again....

We got a good deal from Hotels.com that gave us 40% off the rack rate for a triple-sharing room. Very clean hotel with modern furnishings and understated style. Rooms were sufficient for 3 ladies who were in Seoul for a shopping trip. It included a flat screen TV with cable channels and a desk/bar area. Bathroom was clean and fuss-free, with the usual […] shower gel, shampoo & conditioner but no toothbrushes. The area of the hotel is a little lacking though. Appears to be a neighborhood of sign-customization shops with most closed down during the time we were there. There's a 24h convenience store right next to the hotel though. The train station is about 5-10 mins walk, but we mostly cabbed around. All in all, a really good hotel for the price we paid. Would not hesitate to stay again if we can get the room at a discount! There were two of us traveling together and we both really liked Hotel PJ. We had read some reviews so knew that to get from the subway station to the hotel was two blocks down a seedy alley. That is true, but it adds to the local flavour. The staff at the hotel were incredible. So friendly and polite. We booked some tours with the hotel concierge […] and the next morning our tour bus arrived about 15 minutes late, which wasn't a big deal to us. But when we arrived back at the hotel that evening the concierge was very apologetic and offered us each a small gift for the inconvenience. Very thoughtful. Our room was very nice and we were happy with our accomodations. The beds were very comfortable and everythign was clean except for some dust on the higher cabinets, but a quick wipe with a wet cloth and it was fine. The hotel is in a great location for touring around Seoul. Very central. And we found that taking a taxi around was very cheap. For example we took a taxi from Hotel PJ to the cable car to go up to the Seoul tower and it was about $3.50US. I would highly recommend the Hotel PJ to anyone and I woudln't hesitate to stay here again. Two thumbs up. Thanks Hotels.com!!! Læs mere

OVER ALL IS OK EXCEPT THE FIRST TIME TO HOTEL. IT IS A LITTLE BIT CONFUSE BECOZ VERY FEW SIGN. SHOULD INCREASE MORE SIGN. FOR THE BUS STATION AND SUBWAY IS VERY CONVINENCE

Lovely rooms, clean and well appointed. Very good breakfast and staff helpful and accommodating. The only downside was the hotel bar was not open at all during our stay and we would have liked somewhere to relax in the evenings once we came back from sightseeing/dinner

Excellent hotel. Higher price than we normally spend but glad we put out the money. Hotel breakfast buffet was the most sophisticated we have ever had--and we have been to some champion breakfast buffet countries such as Brazil and China! Room was large with king and a double bed, plus two desks, and a balcony overlooking Nansam Hill. Can walk to all […] the main tourist sites. Three subways on three lines within two blocks, and there is an hourly hotel shuttle if you can't walk that far. From the airport, take Line 5 to Euljio-4 station, Exit 10 and walk a block south and a block west. Neighborhood seems to be Seoul's printing and office supply area (think Office Depot split into a thousand separate stores, with some bits of Home Depot thrown into the mix) but don't let that put you off. The hotel is immaculate, the staff unfailingly helpful and courteous. Located 3 blks from Chungmuro subway station (line 4 exit #8; also an airport bus stop). Hotel has a courtesy van (looks like a mini tourbus) that will pick you up at the station. Neighborhood is quiet, clean, and tourist free. Numerous restaurants and coffee shops on the road around […] the station. Beds were American kingsize and comfy. Several room layouts, one of which has somewhat cramped closet access. Each room has a PC, but are locked to Korean for command prompts etc. Bathrooms in rooms. Female contingent really appreciated the high-tech, heated toilet seats? Only complaint was that the shower/tub clearance was only 6'3". Hotel restaurant is quasi-permanently closed. Sunday brekkie buffet (PJ Cafe) only prepares buffet foods as they run out, so go early or be prepared to make multiple passes to get fed. There are three routes north from the subway/bus stop to the hotel. If you follow the street, go north to the next light then down a block to the right. Otherwise walk 20m east to airport bus stop and follow the yellow bricked pedestrian path straight to the hotel. Visit middle path (shopping alley) later. Læs mere

Dear travellers, I have recently stayed 3 nights at PJ hotel from 12 to 15th May 2010. Hotel staff were friendly and my room is excellent providing a king sized bed, PC with LCD monitor, TV, free beverages and toiletries except for toothbrush/toothpaste. (please bring along with you). This hotel is located about 10mins walk from Chungmuro station. You […] need to pass by mini mart/ eateries along the lane to access to the hotel from chungmuro station. This hotel provides free shuttle to popular shopping areas like Myeongdong, Namdaemun and lotte Dept store. There is an hourly interval for the free shuttle. We booked Hotel PJ for its location, but the area wasn't that nice despite its proximity to several metro stations. The hotel itself is ok although the rooms are quite small and certain basic amenities are missing. The breakfast buffet is very good, although the dining area is setup cafeteria style which is a bit off-putting. Overall, as business hotels […] go I believe there are better ones out there for the same price or even less. Læs mere

Beautiful hotel at an excellent value. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be right in center-city Seoul and doesn't want to pay too much. If your American its good because it gets you away from the general American society that live in Korea.

Great experience at the PJ Hotel! The location was great for me as I like to walk and it is located in the middle of "everything" on the north side. If you're not much of a walker, the subway and bus stops are ~200 meters from hotel. Service was great! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Some staff was limited with English but there was always someone […] to help out in regards to directions and other questions. The room was very clean and comfortable. No problems with internet connection at hotel. I did not have any meals at the hotel so I cannot comment. If I ever make my way back to Seoul I will probaly stay here again. Læs mere
