Godt og rart hotel. Ingen særlig luksus og lidt afsides beliggenhed. Til gengæld pænt og rent, god service, samt gratis wi-fi på hotellet. Tog fra lufthavnen går lige til døren - bogstaveligt talt. Meget fine sporvognsforbindelser til centrum, men absolut også overkommelig gåafstand.

Små (rene) værelser og begrænset morgenmad, men opvejes af super beliggenhed og god service!

Hotellet er af ældre dato, men er i fin stand med hyggelige mere moderne værelser. Værelserne er ikke de største, men der er hvad man har brug for. Personalet er rigtig søde og vil gerne hjælpe med både det ene og det andet. Hotellet ligger super centralt med sporvognen kørende lige ude på vejen (Dette kan høres når de bimler og bamler med klokken, men ikke noget der der irriterer, mere som en hyggelig lyd à la "nu kommer sporvognen igen".) Hotellet ligger super centralt, lige ved Union Square. I området ligger der mange små caféer, dinere, butikker osv og 300 meter nede af gaden ligger der en metro station (en Bart) hvor man kan tage toget til yderområderne. På samme sted er der et hav af busser som kører alle steder hen i byen. To af SF´s tre sporvogne har også endestation lige nede af gaden. Alt i alt et rigtig dejligt hotel. Vi var i SF et par dage inden vi rejste videre syd på. Hotellet var helt ideelt. Både pga at det var hyggeligt, med i høj grad også pga beliggenheden. Det var nemt at komme ud at spise, nemt at komme i butikker og shoppe og nemt at komme til både tog, busser og sporvogn. Helt klart et hotel vi vil anbefale og et vi gerne ville bo på igen hvis vi skulle tilbage til SF.

Placering.
Cavallo Point ligger i Sausalito og er tæt på Golden Gate-broen, Kunstpaladset og Fort Point National Historical Site. I nærheden er også Marin Headlands og Presidio of San Francisco.
Hotelfaciliteter.
Cavallo Point har spabad med fuld service, et motionscenter og et spabad. Dette hotel med 4,5 stjerner har forretningsfaciliteter, der omfatter mindre mødelokaler, audiovisuelt udstyr og et forretningscenter. "A Wondrous Place"
A great departure from a lux high rise hotel in a city...and not a 'resort' a la the Fountainbleu....this is an old fort area at the base of the Golden Gate. It's breathtaking from any angle! Rooms are varied and gorgeous...from comtempoary lodgings to the old base homes...lovingly restored. The bar and restaurant are just great. 4 star food at 3 star […] prices...very inventive....friendly, unstuffy. great wines....you really should stay here! Læs mere
"Cavallo Point - A slice of heaven"
My daughter and I just spent two days at the glorious Cavallo Point and can't wait to go back. We had dinner at the restaurant, had an unforgettable massage at the spa and, because it was raining, took advantage quite a bit of their wonderful shuttle service around the property and to and from Sausalito. We absolutely felt it was a magical weekend!

My only complaint is that when we checked in we were told that there was going to be a wine reception in the evening. We left the spa early to come to the reception, but they don't have the reception on the weekends. We were scheduled for massages at 7:00, but weren't told the spa closes at 8:00. We'd planned to enjoy the spa facilities after our massages, […] but we're basically kicked out. They should either schedule the last massages at 6:30, stay open until 8:30 or make it very clear to the clients that have an 7:00 massage that they close at 8:00 and the client should use the facilities before the massage. If we hadn't been told by mistake there was a wine reception we would have just stayed at the spa until it was time for our massages. So a few missteps by a few people made for a less than stellar experience. When I'm paying this much I expect flawless service. We live in San Francisco and go to Cavallo Point because it is truly like being away with out the travel. Lovely people, place, and food. Go.

"Wife's 60th birthday"
We arrived with fantastic Feb. weather, sunny and warm. The view of the bay and the Golden Gate were both magical. My father had been stationed at Fort Baker towards the end of WWII so some family memories also entered into the overall ambiance. The staff was both friendly and helpful. We look forward to staying longer in the future.

The lodge was very nice. Access to the city would have been very good but the Bay Bridge was closed so the Golden Gate Bridge was jammed this particular weekend. The restaurant Murray Circle had amazing food, but service was poor, atmosphere good. Reservations are a must even if you are a lodge guest, no preferential treatment for lodge guests! There […] was a wait list for sitting in the bar! The host and hostesses were snooty and frazzled. But the food was worth it. Access to Sausalito was wonderful. Room service goofed our breakfast order, we couldn't send back as we had to leave for airport, but they comp-ed it for us. The room was romantic and historic. So much to do and see! We were fortunate to have great weather in February. It was the perfect location and a great weekend. We had privacy as required and were close to the main building for cocktails, dinner. The grounds are phenominal for a view of the Golden Gate and SF. Great hiking trail on the grounds. Its only 7 minutes to Sausalito. We be here again!!

"Cavallo Point is heavenly"
love this place. elegant but understated, thoughtfully appointed, beautiful, mythic views, dog-friendly, spa features but not annoyingly so, easy access to hiking & outdoors or good food & fine drink. the service at Farley Bar is a disappointment, mediocre at best but that is the only flaw we've found after 5 stays.

Wow! What a find. We were lucky to stumble upon this unique location. Perfect view. Clean, well appointed room. Great bar...and, of course, great walks through the area and the Golden Gate Bridge. Will be back again.

This place is incredible! The views of the Golden Gate bridge and skyline of SF are amazing! We had spent 6 nights in the San Francisco area and this was our ending spot. We couldn't have ended in a better place. The staff that greeted us were so friendly and even when we left we felt they went above and beyond to help! Our room was beautiful and clean... […] we arrived later in the day and when we walked in to our room there was soft music greeting us from the Bose radio. It was very romantic! Also, the spa was fabulous. They have individual men/women hot tubs and eucalyptus steam rooms...ahhhh! The meditation pool was where we ended each evening... just soaking up the scenery and ambiance of it all. "Beautiful location at the north end of Golden Gate"
Staff were all extremely friendly and accomodating, golf carts take you to your room and because it's in a park, there is little light pollution from the grounds to interrupt the beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the SF Skyline on a fog free night. We stayed in one of the larger modern rooms and were delighted with the decor and openness […] of the room. The fireplace was especially nice as the nights in the bay can be a bit chilly. I think the per night price is a bit high, but the location is worth it (imo). I was shocked at the high rate held on my card per night for incidentals, I would advise you call ahead of time to get incidental rate so not to be as outwardly shocked as I was. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay at a beautiful location - I will be back and will recommend this wonderful hotel to all of my friends. Læs mere

"Fort Baker"
This is a beautiful place to stay. I highly recommend it for couples looking for some time alone. The food at the restaurant has good food, but too fancy for my liking. Prefect place for the wine lover.

We loved our room and the overall service (ice to room, shuttle to Sausalito, etc. ) was great. However, the one and only time we ate at the hotel (dinner) the food was terrible. We ended up being seated on the porch (which was fine) but the waitress was rude and got very upset when I ordered my meal from the fine dining restaruant and my husband ordered […] his meal from the pub menu. "Depends on what you want"
My wife and I are exercise buffs so the fact that we were next to great hiking and that we were 5 to 7 miles from the action in San Francisco was great. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge multiple times by walking to town or riding a bike. We burned at least 2000 calories a day. If you are not so inclined to exercise and want to be in the middle of […] the San Fran tourist attractions, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you want a quiet beautiful place (and don't want to exercise), this is also a great place for you: Sausilito and San Fran are both a short taxi ride from a great "home base". Cavallo Point is a gem! We enjoyed the room and the setting immensely. We had a fabulous meal at Murray Circle and great service and will definitely return. The spa was wonderful and relaxing too.

Lovely location, which overlooks the Golden Gate bridge, located in the Golden Gate Park. Very eco-friendly and sustainable, with lovely rooms, dedicated staff and a wonderful restaurant - worth making a detour for.

"Great Getaway"
This little jewel is nestled into a cozy cove on a historic property formerly home to Spanish colonists, the Mexican Army and the US military. The historic rooms are amazing! Very clean and tidy and the windows open to let the fresh Bay breeze come in. Each room has quality art prints and really are quite nice! Ask for a room with a view of San Francisco […] and watch the fog roll in at night and out in the morning. We read in other reviews about the free breakfast baked goods and coffee. Yes, indeed they are great! Be sure to take the walking tour if it is available you will get a great workout and learn a lot. Also be sure to check out the gallery and bar! they both are exceptional! This hotel is at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge overlooking the Bay and the city. A short walk up to Marin Headlands gives you the best view. It's worth the half mile hike up the hill. Ladies overnight at Cavallo Point was wonderful. Gorgeous San Francisco Bay Area location, quite, beautiful, fun spot. We dined at the bar, rode the shuttle into town and had a fabulous Friday Ladies Night.

"Cavallo Point - Too expensive for what you get"
We could have got a better hotel with views in San Francisco. Too expensive, the restaurant waiter was snooty and didn't get the complete breakfast that was ordered. It seemed like somebody had forced her to be on the job.

An Oasis of calm in the busy Bay Area. We enjoyed our one day stay in the Baker National Park. We wish we would have had time to stay longer. Restaurant was superb. "heritage and relax"

"aggressive security"
We stayed for one night and felt overwhelmed by the more or less "plainclothes" hotel security who seemed more interested in my wife and I following all of the grounds rules (such as one way turns in the parking lot) than showing any respect for our privacy. When we arrived that night, the valet opened the passenger door of our car, without any identification […] that he worked at the hotel. We found this to be very unnerving. The courtesy shuttle driver that night was not pleasant at all and even passed us as we tried to flag him down for a ride up the hill. We felt watched by security the entire stay, as if they wanted us to stay put in our room or something. I pay a premium for good service and felt as if things were set up for the convenience of staff, as opposed to the convenience of guests. For the rates we paid, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The bar and front desk staff were helpful though. The valet/shuttle/and security need serious training. Læs mere

The Cavallo Point Hotel near Sausalito was an amazing discovery. The hotel has unique and beautiful rooms, many of which are large suites located in smaller buildings situated around a gorgeous meadow in the Marin hills, with a breathtaking view of the (very close) Golden Gate Bridge and the bay. With a first class restaurant and spa, as well as a series […] of outdoor activities and cooking classes, The Cavallo Point would be a great location for a family or couple interested in spending several days exploring San Francisco, Sausalito, the Marin Headlands, the Muir Woods, or any of the other wonderful attractions in the area. One can have the benefit of the big city without the headaches of city parking or the wonders of some of America's most beautiful woods and waters within minutes.
