Virkeligt dejligt hotel med god beliggenhed i forhold til alle de store seværdigheder. God service i receptioenen. Desværre et værelse ud til en skakt, men havde ikke tid til at ærge os over det.

Hottellet ligger rigtigt centralt i forhold til de store seværdigheder i det centrale Washington DC. Det er slidt og af ældre dato, men det er funktionelt og vi havde ikke noget at udsætte på servicen. Desværre er hotellet stort og billigt, hvilket lejrskoler og lignende også benytter sig af. Det var ret irriterende, at den pris hotels.com oplyste blev belagt med en skat på 10 procent pr. overnatning da vi tjekkede ud og skulle betale regningen! Vi forventede at den oplyste pris var den fulde pris!

Fint suite-værelse med separat soverum. Der var lidt mørkt og kun to stole ved spisepladsen, men ellers fine faciliteter. Vi havde booket to nætter til at "komme" os efter en lang flyvetur med to børn, og det var hotellet rigtig fint til.
Placering.
The River Inn ligger praktisk tæt på lufthavnen i kvarteret Georgetown - Foggy Bottom i Washington og er også tæt på George Washington-universitetet, Department of State og Blair House. I nærheden er også Lincoln-mindesmærket og Det Hvide Hus.
Hotelfaciliteter.
The River Inn har et fitnesscenter eller -rum og gratis cykler. Trådløs og kablet højhastighedsadgang til internettet er gratis i fællesarealerne. Dette condominium der er egnet til forretningsfolk har en restaurant og en bar/lounge. Gæsteparkering er muligt i et begrænset omfang ud fra princippet om først til mølle (mod betaling). Personalet kan arrangere concierge-tjenester, forretningsservice og hjælp med udflugter. Ekstra faciliteter inkluderer en flersproget medarbejderstab, vaskeri og renseri/vaskeservice.

Georgetown er den allermest kosmopolitanske side af Washington DC. Her holder de store Beltway-kanoner hof på fine restauranter langs M Street, en travl shoppinghovedgade. Folk i tyverne danner netværk på de chikke barer. Georgetown University dominerer den vestlige ende, mens det rivaliserende George Washington University fylder en bid af Foggy Bottom. Ifølge receptionisten ligger hotellet i det bedre nabolag og er godt oplyst og det kan vi kun nikke godkendende til. Vi kom hjem sent flere dage og oplevede intet som kunne virke utrygt. Værelset vi havde booket var en Juniorsuite med plads til 4 personer. Der var 1 Queen size dobbeltseng og en sovesofa. Dobbeltsengen var OK, men sovesofaen manglede […] i den grad komfort, når vores to store drenge skulle ligge i den. Vi fik dog lagt en ekstra madras på uden problemer og så kunne man godt anvende den. Nogen luksusseng blev den dog aldrig. Det eneste vi ikke var helt tilfreds med var den trådløse internet forbindelsen, som nærmest var ikke eksisterende eller ekstrem langsom; ellers et perfekt hotel.

Store værelser med køkken, bad, påklædningsrum samt store afdelingen til stue samt kontor - nærmest som en hel lejlighed. Dejlig restaurant på hotellet. Gratis udlån af cykler for 2 timer af gangen. Gode badeværelser med dejlig stor bruser. Kaffemaskiner på værelset med egen kaffemaler. Eneste minus ved hotellet er dårlige motionsforhold og dårlige […] fast net internetforbindelse, så husk den bærbare og gem træningen til derhjemme. Læs mere

Hotel is friendly and location is excellent for GWU families and anyone arriving at DCA and not wanting to lease a car. Decor is somewhat tired and in need of update but rooms are clean and as updated as possible for the age of the hotel.
Everything was fine, but the walls are thin. There were some teenagers next door, and they were loud all night. Every thing else was fine.
I wish that I could have stayed longer!

"great location"
We really enjoyed our stay at The River Inn. The junior suite was a terrific size for a family of four, though the bathroom was a bit small. Having the (slightly outdated) kitchenette was so helpful, but we could have used a few more dishes, etc. (only two of each item, even though 4 guests were registered for room). I'm sure the staff would have been […] happy to supply extra bowls, etc, but we made do with no problems. Our TV didn't work when we first arrived, but that was fixed promptly and courteously. I agree with other reviewers that the WiFi is a bit slow but, for our purposes, it didn't matter all that much. The Metro station was a very easy two-block walk from the hotel, the neighborhood was gorgeous and very quiet with some good restaurants within walking distance. Parking was an issue: we were able to find a spot on the street for part of a weekend, then moved the car to the hotel valet when the parking restrictions changed for the weekdays. our stay at River Inn was first rate from the moment we arrived! The room was roomy and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating, definitely their guests come first!! Will stay here again on another trip to DC.

the outside of the hotel is below average but the room was nice and clean. i wish the would put a ramp walkway for wheelchair or strollers at the front of the hotel instead of going in and out to the side. and i hope for them to have an automatic sliding door opening at the front or a push button for automatic door to open. i wish then could think of […] convienency of the guest especially if you have kids or disabled person. Great location for those who enjoy walking DC - near Kennedy Cntr, Georgetown. A nice walk to memorials - we have been going for over 23 years and have always enjoyed this motel. Room sizes differ greatly - but all have the same amneties.

"charming Hotel in a Nice Neighborhood"
This hotel sits in the middle of a very cute neighborhood and it was in a great location for our St. Patty's day weekend. Nice staff snd very cleanrooms. Parking is expensive but that's an issue all over DC.

"Great Hotel, Fantastic DC Rates, a few downers"
This is the second time I stayed there, this time in a junior suite which had a better view than the alley and felt more comfortable. A couple of mentions, the bar closes early, and isn't open on the weekend. They really have to put in more than one Access Point for such a big building, my room... 1 bar not working had to go to the lobby to catch up, […] would've gone in the bar but closed. Still though you feel safe here, the students from GWU are always walking by and it's close to a lot but not too close. Always recommend this place other than those two little 'quirks' Læs mere

I had a training session in DC and got a great deal on this hotel. I would say it was good for the price my wife and I paid and would definitely stay again if we were able to get that deal again. But for full price? Definitely not. The neighborhood was awesome, great places to eat nearby, close to the metro at the college nearby, very safe for family […] (esp since I was able to bring mine). "The River Inn: "Inn" The Right Place!"
We came to DC to see my cousin perform at the Kennedy Center opera and needed something within easy walking distance. A friend who had gone to George Washington University said The River Inn was the hands-down choice in that area. He was right! It's 4 blocks North of the Center and you walk right past the Watergate complex to the get there. We reserved […] a good-sized room with a queen bed and sofa bed for my wife, 14-year-old son and myself. And to our pleasant surprise there was a kitchenette as well! Food at the hotels' "Dish" restaurant was very good and the gas fireplace added a nice touch. We loved our stay at the hotel. We brought our two children and the room was a perfect size. The pull-out couch was great. Our room was right near the elevator and next to the stairs so it was noisy at times. The kitchen was the best convenience for a family. I would have liked to have more, or different, tv channels for children.

The hotel is located near the metro which provides access to major D. C. attractions. This is a smaller botique hotel that offers large guest rooms with full kitchens standard.

the hotel wasn't bad but I did not like having to pay almost$40 to park my car. Also my coffee maker did not hava filter so I had to call down to have one brought up, and I was already in a hurry that moring. The stopper for the bathtb did not work so I was unable to take a bath, only a shower. However the ideal location was a plus
"A little character, clean and GREAT location"
The location of this hotel can't be beat for the price. Though it's an older building, it was clean and my room (junior suite) was bright, really big, and even had a small kitchen. The thing that usually grosses me out about old hotels is old furniture and dirty tiles/grout, but my room didn't have either problem, so it just felt boutique-y and vintage […] rather than old and gross. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Stayed here on business and leisure. Always fine. Hotel always seems a bit old, cramped, but is a good value. Neighborhood is convenient to Blue Line Metro, walk to Wisconsin/M shops. Would stay here again.

In a beautiful quiet neighborhood 4 blocks from the Kennedy Center, The River Inn is a small little jewel. Easy to walk to restaurants or the metro. Rooms clean and well-laid out. The two we've stayed in have mini-kitchens - everything but ovens - so bring food if you want. We thought the food price and valet cost was steep, but it is downtown DC... The River Inn was a wonderful hotel to stay with my husband and 3 children in DC. Safe quaint neighborhood-easy access to the Metro. Very roomy for a DC hotel. We loved having a suite with microwave, refrigerator and stove top- perfect for avoiding the restaurant crowd. Be aware that this hotel takes pets- my family is allergic to cats and the first […] suite we were given had a strong cat odor in the kitchen. This was a real steal for DC prices. The Junior suite was lovely and the proximity to Kennedy Center, metro and Georgetown was ideal. Everyone was very nice and the restaurant was outstanding.

We stayed in the hotel for the week of Thanks Giving and we had a great experience. The hotel is located just two block of the Foggy Bottom metro so it is very convinient, it is in the Georgetown area which is full of restaurants all in walking distance. Stayed at the River Inn to attend a meeting at the DC Convention Center. Took the Foggy Bottom metro to McPherson Square and walked 4 blocks or so to the convention in about 20 min. The locale, immediately near the GWU Medical Center, had a nice university feel to it and a nice Whole Foods market nearby, so I was able to stock up the little kitchen […] in my Junior Suite. The street was quiet and was able to sleep the night with the window open, despite being on the second floor. The Junior Suite has a pull out sofa and a queen bed in the same room with a generously-sized table for a desk. The arrangement was compact but not crowded. This facitily proved an optimal accomodation: proximate to desireable destinations, pleasant neighbourhood, and clean, comfortable and well-looked after. The house restaurant offered up remarkably tasty fare. The staff were professional, friendly, and obliging. The River Inn merits its trade.

Room and furnishings were old and run down. Wifi very intermittent and slow. Business ctr was just a small room in fitness ctr and would not print boarding pass so had to do it through front desk.
"What happened?"
We rarely complain about hotels. But we were very surprised to find such unacceptable conditions in the room that was assigned to us. There were large "X' carvings and scraches on the bed's head board that were a little disturbing. Additionally, large areas of what looked like blood stains on the rug made it difficult to relax anywhere in the room. […] The overall room condition and lack of cleanliness and basic housecleaning services was unacceptable. Especially at the nightly rate that we paid. It is unfortunate because the hotel itself could have been fine but to put anyone in a room in the condition that we found ours was simply not excusable. We did appreciate hotel.com getting a room for us on short notice but we would recommend that hotel.com discuss with management of this hotel their lack of concern regarding the guest that are booked there by hotel.com.
